  1. This was the one in the previous tender, guide price £3500. That's a lot of money when the gear stick wouldn't even move. It was a lot of work, we thought it was worth about £500. I wouldn't be surprised if it went unsold. Chris
  2. I'd rather they'd put a picture of a nice original Ferret on the front cover, instead of the one with 1001 post service modifications. It's almost as bad as the ebay pimped Ferret.
  3. I have since been told that the 432 was a Bulldog prototype/mockup and was blown up on purpose. They had a CET like that a few years ago, I had a look inside and everything was new. Even the batteries were charged.
  4. Larkspur antenna bases, .30cal mount, early markings, it may have been in GW1 but it wouldn't have looked like that if it was.
  5. Stan, I am very interested in the gearbox, I just need to work out a way of getting it here. Don't sell it just yet! I have one here which I bought as a good take out from a well known dealer, which also has that problem! I have seen your Saladin, it looks good, where do these Saladins keep turning up from? Anyway enough hijacking of the Pig thread.. Chris
  6. Stan, How much are you asking for the CVRW gearbox, and is there anything wrong with it? Chris
  7. Yes, that's the one. I was there trying to salvage a hangar which had been blown down, with a view to using the bits to build a shed to keep our vehicles in. In the end the hangar fell apart, and what was left blew into another field, so it never worked out!
  8. Jack - Thanks for the offer, I will work out how much I need and what sizes and give you a call. Luckily the truck the body is going on doesn't need much work, so the body is the big job. I basically bought the truck to use the body as a pattern, but a lot of the metal work should be useable. It too wasn't expensive, anything we can save from it is a bonus. The owner does have quite a collection, I don't think he wants to sell anything else at the moment. Chris
  9. Richard, You can probably watch it on 4od? http://www.channel4.com/4od/index.html Chris
  10. The truck was an MWR, it has the large regulator on the engine side of the bulkhead. You are right about the extra plank on either side, this is held on by the brackets which are fitted into the brackets for the hood sticks. I can get imperial nuts and bolts, but I was wondering about the heads on the coach bolts etc. Once I get this home and go over it I'll hopefully know more. Chris
  11. Having recently aquired an MW needing a body, I found this one for sale, with a body - kind of! The plan is to remove this body and restore it. The truck will also supply the back of the cab, which we are missing from the 'good' truck. This was going to be a restoration project, about 20 years ago, so there are various other bits from the truck scattered around the owners sheds. Obviously the body is only good for a pattern, but can anyone help with the following please! - Anyone know a good source of wood? What wood was the body originally made from? - What fasteners should we use, anyone know a source? - Does anyone have any photos of a good original or restored body, so we know what we are aiming for? - This is an MWR body, I wanted to make an MWD. What are the differences? Thanks! Chris
  12. Were the Queen Mary trailers ever built as or converted to anything else? Internally this one looked to have a fairly professional conversion, and since it still lives in the corner of a ww2 bomber station, I suspect it's never had a civilian owner? Chris
  13. Looks like the same trailer with new paint to me. Chris
  14. That looks like the stuff Neil, is it the same as the Stolly? I know Andy with the Striker/Saladin/Saracen made some of the hooks to suit CVRT and may have some left. Chris
  15. If it's the same as CVRT, thexmod has a load at Beltring.
  16. eBay item no 150205708041 should do the job?
  17. This vehicle has an enormous hole in the floor, don't underestimate the damage! When I go on a viewing day I will take some photos.
  18. Hi Jack, I will be there, hopefully there will be something worth buying this time! :??? Chris
  19. There are plenty of stories of vehicles which were supposed to be 'fixed' by some of the the so called 'experts' out there... I think I'd be negotiating a discount on the work carried out already and then sorting it myself if I were you. I'd get them to deliver it back for free too. Chris
  20. Clive, I hope the Tank Museum take as good care of it as you did. It will be a real shame if it gets neglected and ends up back in the condition you got it. Chris
  21. Yes it is a Bulldog, but it's been hit by an IED. It's in a terrible state, I am surprised they have put it in a tender. Chris
  22. Hi Rick,

Are you looking for a brake master cylinder kit, or a brake servo kit? I have a M/C kit left, but nothing for the servo. I can get a new servo for you, but they are not cheap.

  23. David, A new pump is around £100. I would connect everything up, leaving the connection of the carb, put the pipe into a container and run the pump and see what happens. Chris
  24. Well I had an FV432 which was 40 years old when it came out of Service in 2005. At the same time an advert was running on the TV showing 432s, with a slogan along the lines of the most modern army in the world! The 432s have now been (mostly) upgraded with new engines and gearboxes, I wonder if they will last another 40 years? Chris
