6 X 6
OK, here's another one, can anyone identify tractor, trailer, load, location and year ? Bonus points for naming the two blokes operating the crane.
ted angus
abdul and Mo short for Mohamed on the crane , the kite is a Hurricane with of course the quality product from Luton towing the QM. My Dad worked at Commers from 1940 till the mid 80s. just spent a good 30 minutes looking at JAMD some good shots including a couple more of the trafalgar square V2 Thanks for posting regards TED
Snapper
I can remember one of these Commer Q2 (I think) tractors at Beltring in 1999. I took a couple of snaps. I haven't seen the vehicle since. Wonderful archive snaps - thanks for sharing. MB

Bonus points for naming the two blokes operating the crane. I can identify the crane type - it is a manual Derrick or sometimes referred to as a Scotch Derrick crane :yay:
Snapper
Reckon you'd be right. It looks like it. Can't believe there are two in Riffraf markings. It looks great - like to see it towing a QM, though. Good call. Ta. It may have been this one.
6 X 6
like to see it towing a QM, I'd like to see it, or one like it, towing my 'Queen Mary' with a mock up of a Lancaster Bomber fuselage on the back and me at the steering wheel but, sadly, it won't be happening anytime soon. Brooky
I posted the colour photo of the Commer Q2 on another thread a bit ago. The vehicle lives in west Cumbria and I believe the owner has a QM trailer (under restoration) to go with it. The photo was taken at the Cumbria Steam & Vintage Vehicle Society rally at Flookborough 5 years ago Edited November 18, 2008 by Brooky inaccurate info

AlienFTM
It may have been this one. A 10 ton bridge classification when a V2 weighed 27,580lb! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-2_rocket), never mind the trailer. HSE would have blown a fuze.
