That looks cheap. Don't you go making too much extra work I want to see it in the scammell running. Have you got my meadows out yet?

it was cheap buy one get one free so i have one to sell eventually to cover costs . i was thinking weather to fit it now or later but i think it will be easyier to fit in a nice warm workshop rather than falling off the mudgards every 5 mins .

meadows is not out yet but it is disconected and waiting just need a weekend where work dose not get in the way and i have the crane to lift it out ,

just another up date

the dirty deed has been done and the meadows has now left the vehical i dont think i could have done it with the front crossmember in . on closer inpection of the engnine something is not right with engine numbers as there are two engine plates on the side and both seem to have different numbers on

to get the u botls off the front cross member i lifted the front of the truck up with the crane untill i could get all the nessesary bits off and then dropped it back down on to some blocks to support it while the axel is disconected .

whats happening here then all gone a bit quiet again.........any more progress? Have you got it in yet?:D

i was wondering when u would be on my case about the lack of work being done at the moment :D

i am currently on the drawing board with some engine mounts that make it easy to get the engine in and out ( not that i plan takeing it out again ) have just had the cummins twinplate clutch relined so thats gd as new at the moment and is just awaiting the new longer clutch shaft to arrive which is being made my a local company it will be identical to the original cummins shaft but it will have a set of splines on the end to take the orginal scammell coupling flange . the bearing will be supported by the front face of the gearbox which i cut out and all that is needed to complete it is a top hat section to house an oil seal. will have some pics of that up as soon as its done .

have got new clutch brake for the cummins bell houseing aswell which can be changed without haveing to take anything apart . all done through the clutch inspection cover ,

only other job is fitting the jake brake but i havent finished reading the manual yet :readpaper:

some bloke in a transit pickup keeps bugging me for the meadows saying he will give it a gd home should i let him have it ? he sounds a irish bit to me

its sounding like youll be back out with it soon well done sell it for more than scrap value and you will know it might be kept for somone else to use ( or just maybe someone here might look after it on your behalf ):laugh::laugh::laugh:

He'll never sell his scammell for more than scrap value now it's got an american engine in it.:D......... Oh sorry you were talking about the old meadows:cool2:

just another update

have got round to fitting the jake brake which turned out to be easier than i first thought basicly it is just a bolt on job took me about half a day to fit the only tricky thing is setting the tapppets after as the jake brake houseing makes access to the adjusting screws a little tricky there are specialist tools for this but that costs money

just a few pics :D

Waiting for me number plates to be made....all black and silver you know. Got the batteries ready to go on £160 for two 110amp ones. Fitted the mirrors.....side reflectors to go on tomorrow and a diesel return. just oiled it up all round but think i will have to use grease in the rear prop cos the seals aint to good. what do you lube yours with? i use 140 in all the chassis and brake points and grease in the water pump and rear prop.

Anyone going to llandudno next weekend? I want to have a word about the bining the metalastic couplings for a shaft or at least having a shaft ready to fit if they give up the ghost.

Well i'm only going for a wander round i don't really think a 90 mile round trip plus two road runs is a good idea for a first run after 15 years off the tarmac:nut: I'm just going to play local for a while but might have a run to llanberris for the lake railway birthday bash, a nice 50 mile round trip. I'm working on a pound a mile for fuel planning:undecided:

You still waiting for the clutch shaft? Whats he machining it with a nail file:laugh:?
