is RAF Barkston Heath where the reserve appliances from Manston Museum are kept?

No the Barkston collection is an off shoot from the RAF DFS firefighters Ass. they started at Shoreham got the boot moved to halfpenny green got the boot now at Barkston; those at Scampton belong to my friend W.O. Steve Shghirley he owes the bulk of the Manston fire museum collection. He also has a handful at East KIRKBY where he provides fire cover.

Great thread - made me join the forum in fact! Picture below is of one of my vehicles (a TACR-1). The first shot is how it looks now (after a full restoration) and the second how it looked when new in 1974 at RAF Church Fenton.

Nice pictures Mark.

 

I remember that Cosford show (it was on the land where the Cold War hanger now sits!) as we went back to the barn and got the F8 as it was only up the road and it gave us a chance to give it a run out again!
