chevpol
is RAF Barkston Heath where the reserve appliances from Manston Museum are kept? Mark
Sean N
I think there's an RAF fire service historical collection, and I believe these vehicles are theirs, though I don't know if it's an official thing or just a bunch of ex-RAF Fire Service guys keeping the flame alive (!) ted angus
is RAF Barkston Heath where the reserve appliances from Manston Museum are kept? Mark No the Barkston collection is an off shoot from the RAF DFS firefighters Ass. they started at Shoreham got the boot moved to halfpenny green got the boot now at Barkston; those at Scampton belong to my friend W.O. Steve Shghirley he owes the bulk of the Manston fire museum collection. He also has a handful at East KIRKBY where he provides fire cover. Paul H
Great thread - made me join the forum in fact! Picture below is of one of my vehicles (a TACR-1). The first shot is how it looks now (after a full restoration) and the second how it looked when new in 1974 at RAF Church Fenton.

chevpol
found these whilst browsing old negatives, taken at RAF Cosford, a gathering of ex RAF appliances, also RN TACR2 at a Ambulance show at the Wiltshire Ambulance HQ Mark
Smithy
Nice pictures Mark. I remember that Cosford show (it was on the land where the Cold War hanger now sits!) as we went back to the barn and got the F8 as it was only up the road and it gave us a chance to give it a run out again!
