JPMulders
Always useful! No need for spending lots on money on this kind of stuff imo.
steviem
Yeah one or two, maybe 30 odd dents and creases, need to learn metal shrinking too.
Chris Hall
I have the same kit but under a different brand name. I only use a few of them for most of the jobs, the only issue I have with them is that sometimes I could do with the dollies being a bit heavier.

steviem
Guys I have what appears to be additional fixture holes on the outer screen what were these for, should I leave them if not what is the best way to fill them, also similar on the grill and hood, Steve

JPMulders
Make sure you have these butt welding clamps ready. Will make life much easier. Trick is to prevent excessive heat.

Gathering stuff so mailing around for original body parts. Scored some NOS rebuild kits and prepping a shopping list for the obvious stuff like bearings and seals. I hate to miss parts when I start a certain rebuild job so want everything on the shelf before I start. But things like gears etc I will get after inspection/requirement of course. Seems that an original GPW top bow and a Sparton R2-14 are quite rare these days. Do you work with original parts of repro mostly?
steviem
Original if possible my jeep is pretty much as it was when built it's probably it's best asset atm.
steviem
Talking of original this fender is going to take a lot more work, inner and outer screen have a bit of paint to protect them, anyone know where I can source window mechanism.
OzH
I think you've put the inner frame in back to front, the handle should be on the inside The sliders and hand tightenings are all available from Dallas auto or Joes motor pool and do pop up on ebay quite a lot if you want originals.. 1

steviem
quick one folks, anyone used braze rather than weld on the fender tabs, not sure how much stress the tabs are under. Steve.
Chris Hall
I haven’t tried it but I would expect the heat needed to braze would cause the steel to warp. You ca n get a new section to weld in but I’d have a go at mig weld first, very slow and I would personally clamp a suitable thick steel (or copper if you have some) to the section to be welded as a heat sink and to keep everything aligned.
steviem
Cheers bud ordered mini spot welding clamps, inlaw has larger ones also welding helmet, so now regulator and gas reqd should be able to get copper strip from work any minimum thickness reqd
Chris Hall
Any thickness will act as a heat sink, but the thicker the more rigid you can clamp to. I’ve been using 3mm which is a happy medium I think....but I’m by no means a pro.
steviem
Cheers pal the tabs are still fixed to the fender but split where the bolt holes are, just noticed while tinkering about one of the passenger seat bolts has been welded to the floor, oh the joys.
