Good neighbours

Do any of you have problems with your neighbours about parking your MVs in your driveway? Ian2b's impressive Bedford springs to mind! :schocked:

I've been talking to one of my neighbours about my CCKW for a while and he's been all sweetness and light, saying other people might object but he doesn't mind what I park in my own driveway. Now it turns out that he's had a quiet word with the wife and is threating to build a 6 foot high brick wall along the boundary to obscure the 'eyesore' :argh:

As long as the vehicle is legal etc. then you can park what you like around our way the only thing you should not park in the drive is a caravan, but they still do it so they cannot complain about a Reo

Why can't they park a caravan in the drive? :dunno:

I had a visit from the council with ref: to my CCKW being parked on the drive, the problem seemed to be someone didn't like the fact I had brought one and had complained that the sharp edges ie winch and bumper of the truck were too close to the pavement and may cause injury to passing pedestrians. The truck was within my boundry by 1" and so was O.K on my own land. I asked the council official who had moaned but he declined to reveal the identity fearing WW III would start and he would have been right.

I have been told that some councils require you to obtain planning permission to keep them on your own property, one guy I spoke to had a worrying time over the issue having 2 reo's.

I now keep both my CCKW's and Jeep in my yard at the rear of the premises out of the view of the jealous spiteful few.

Something to do with the laws whhen they built the houses????????????????

These type`s of covenants (sp) are usually the norm on new builds but i belive (d`ont quote me on this ) they have a life span pf approx 25 yrs.

Hi ghasp,

may be worth a check of the bylaws to see if he can do this with out planning permission ? if nothing else at least you could erect a form of shelter over your vehicle as protection from the weather canvas off he w`ont be able to see it !!

I had a visit from one of our local councillors after he had received a complaint about Uninsured & Untaxed Tanks without MOT's being parked on the road.. after putting him right showing him everything was in order he told me no problem, carry on.. :-D he then proceeded up the road to the neighbour who complained to tell him there was nothing he could do about it.. :-D

Don't know what all the fuss is about

One note of caution !

i was taken to court several years ago by the local council for having my vehicle (a camper) parked on the public highway Taxed M.O.T` ed and insured yet done for obstruction of (a non useable car excess as proved in court) but still ordered not to park in the space for six months !!!! but guess where i parked exactly 6 months and 1 day later.

Because i worked nights the neighbour had kept records of the vehicle being parked in the same place for over 6 months , ...... i walked to work during the day, so luckily i did not have to pay costs so accepted the punishment on the advice of my employer (the local council ) as they did not want the publicity.

We had a few probs with our neighbour from this point known as P.D. (poisoned dwarf ), had him ranting to Police that it must be illegal for me to have a tank (Ferret).

Really quitened down, when I narrowly missed him, as he stepped off the pavement as I came round the corner.

Not sure if it was this or the apology for being late and missing him...

You just can't satisfy some people......

Hardwood derrick

You got taken to court by your own employers??? Weird!!!!

Yes, the crafty old goat played all the right cards and when he dealt them through my door (i.e little notes) i tore them up and posted them back through his letterbox.

He then complained about refuse vehicles / day care vehicles not being able to turn around in the street (dead end street) but luckily i had already managed to get written conformation that this was not true.

Bearing in mind at this time that i worked for a DLO (which was basically a private company half managed by the local authority )

He then claimed victimisation because the council at first told him to go away and stop being a pest and wasting their time

All in all it got very nasty in the end and the feud lasted for approx 8-10 years resulting in me taking certain actions of which i am not proud of (non violent of course from my side) and i was glad to leave the place in the end.

My nieghbours have always been good about my mv's, I think that's because they know they can always knock for help with thier cars, jump start etc.

I was living with my mum for about a year in a quiet cul-de-sac and the local kids loved the landy, during the summer holidays they were always in the back playing with thier play stations and one kid even used to put his rabbit in there!.

pray tell more

Dont be tempted to mate. You just do not know who reads these, or any other, forum pages. I know of someone who 'revealed all' on a motorcycle forum and then found the Old Bill tracked him down after a tip off! Keep the revenge sweet and to yourself.

Its so strange I park my lorry on the drive and in the road sometimes and get no complaints yet a couple of years ago my next door neighbour parked his Ford Escort across the road and the neighbour living there had aright go at him telling him it was their space and he wasn't to park there. Now me being me decided to park my Uaz Ambulance right outside there house and left it there for a good 3 months and in that time they never once said anything to me. Maybe they were worried i would swap it for the lorry :-D.

Thanks chaps, if nothing else the stories made me smile. :-D

I thought I'd found somewhere to park the gmc off road this week, in a fenced off area just round the corner. The owners of the land were quite happy, but they were concerned as they sometimes get teenagers climbing in at night. I didn't want to come back one day and find a burnt out wreck. So the search is on again.
