  1. excellent models, accurate armour do make some nice models.
  2. hi all i know some of you aksed me to post more pics of my models, so here they are;- land rover 110 wmik and a very rare vehicle, (they only converted 6), it is called a 'warpig' some of you may have never heard about, it is a converted us lmtv 4x4 used by the us spec ops in iraq, as a mother ship, much like the sas used the unimog. can have a variety of armaments and carries lots of jerrycans. and this one has yet to be painted, showing how the kits is made from resin and metal parts. it is a dutch spec ops mercedes g wagen, as used in afghanistan. commisioned by some serving dutch army personel, who have just come back from there. thanks for looking shaun
  3. thanks for the comments. now i know why you said tipper. the mudguards are not part of the kit, far too fragile in resin, and most gamers would leave them off, and of course making something to fit it is easy just a bit of thin card squares. if you want to see more, there are more pics here:- http://s513.photobucket.com/albums/t339/sandsmodels/ where almost all of what i have made over the years are pictured just finnished the stalwart in the same scale:- cold war stuff is getting more popular recently, but if you like big armed trucks this has to be one of the biggest;- based on pics of one used in iraq, similar sort of thing as used in vietnam. this one has an m60mg, a twin gpmg, (us m240) and a mini-gun, lots of firepower. must get around to painting them soon. thanks shaun
  4. hi it was supposed to be a gs model. the master took about 2 weeks from start to finnish, then it was moulded and then coppies cast from it, about 12 years ago i seem to remember. dont know if i still have the moulds. the front wich.bumper was always a fragile bit. should have made that in metal thanks
  5. hi found a picture of the chevy i think this one got a bit battered before the picture was taken. thanks shaun
  6. if you do not mind the less detail and solid cabs then the wargames and smaller model companies postwar soft skin offerings will surprise you. you could get almost anything in 1/76 or 1/72 scales, some are quite cheap as well. brittania, s&s models, rh models, matador models, bull models, cmsc, to name a few.
  7. thanks it does not look like it, so i must find the display one and take some.
  8. some of you asked to see some more of my models so i thought i had better show you a painted one. i made this model over a period of several weeks after seeing and photographing one at the now defunct weston s mare d-day show in 1994. the only difference to the real one i saw is that mine has not got the ring mount and .50 cal hmg. i could not find any models of the 352, plenty of the 353 so i scratchbuilt this one for my range. the trailer is an airfix one with pva soaked tissue paper to make the tilt more like canvas and i replaced the wheels with the same ones from the truck. i also scratchbuilt the chevy ypg4112 4x4 at the same time. thanks for looking shaun
  9. thanks for the welcome, i must admit quite a refreshing change from the last forum i joined, only posted twice so far, got 2 replies one about size of pics, the other about punctuation and gramar> i thought the other forum was about modeling but i could be wrong. i did indeed post some pics of my latest scratchbuilds on the modeling section, and yes i did make 2 lwt land rovers, one was open toped the other was with tilt up. sorry no pics of them as yet, but i do need to get more pics taken when i find the original display model. i will indeed need to take pics or measurements, so your kind offers are very much welcome. if anyone would like a list please email me:- sales@sandsmodels.com i may be able to offer a made and painted service at some point. thanks shaun
  10. hi, as a new member i thought some of you would like to see some of my scratchbuilds. these are in the same scale as hornby model railways (oo or 1/76-1/72 scale) i do make kits from time to time, but i do like to make what no one else makes, especialy modern military vehicles. this is one of my ongoing projects, the usa m1070 het, and the gb version. it has taken me a long time to get this far as all of my other work gets in the way. this is the swedish cv90 apc, stryker 8x8 apc, cvrt spartan apc, chinese type 99 mbt, gun barrel needs to be fitted, they are all made from plastic card, metal mesh, resin parts and odds and ends. some of you will notice that they are in modular form, that is because they are all designed to be moulded as simple 5-10 piece kits which i sell in resin and metal. these will never be painted and i could glue them together but they could not be moulded as one and have to be made in several parts. these models are designed with wargamers in mind who do not want 100% accuracy but a robust easy to assemble model, hence the small number of parts. the m1070 het will obviously need quite a few parts, but also must be mouldable and castable, hence the long time its taken to get this far. the range i have made is vast and is still growing with jackal, mastiff and panther being amongst the newer vehicles being made. thanks for looking shaun
  11. excellent bit of kit bashing. my friend has one of those destroyers, bought when it was the old lindberg model, it is still unopened. wonder if he will sell me it.
  12. hi forum, i am glad i found the forum when i did. i found it by accident looking for pics of a stalwart for a model i was making. i would like to have an ex military vehicle for real but time and space means i have to think small. i am a profesional modelmaker here in somerset and as such i can realy have any military vehicle i want as i scratchbuild the models from card, resin, metal ect. my collection is vast, but i also sell models to the general public, but only as simple kits and not ready made. i do however sometimes make and paint models for customers, but rarely have the time at present. my models range from pre-ww2 tanks right up to the jackal, mastiff, panther ect of todays armed forces all to the same scale as hornby railways, (1/76-1/72 scales) i can post some pics of models if you would like, as i make some that no one else makes. thanks shaun s&s models
