But don't automatically assume all of us are idiot's.

I cant see what the problem is warning people how dangerous these things can be. All John FV601 done was to put a post on here warning people how lethal explosives are, so if your an idiot take it on board and if your not then ignore it its not aimed at you but do remember there are some stupid people around that need telling.

Is it really such a bad thing if people with so little common sense remove themselves from the gene pool?

Whilst those people are removing themselves from the genepool as you put it, it is those of us with common sense that suffer due to their actions.

And quite rightly as Ian has said it is not those with common sense the warning was aimed at.

When we provide pyro's for a show be it re enactment or just a firing display we follow a sensible and safe code of practise that ensures as much as possible that no one gets hurt. We are aware of the effects that the items we use produce as well as being able to direct blasts in such a way that a man can be standing 3 feet away and be perfectly safe. Everyone involved in such a display knows where and in what sequence the explosions will take place and in knowing that do not get hurt. Could you imagine what it would be like if that system was not in place?

Good posting. I would like to think that all, if not a significant majority, of those either posting here or owning our sort of vehicle fall into the category of not needing the advice.

However the forums are open to public viewing and there are a lot of idiots out there capable (just) of reading it who DO need the advice both John & Lee are giving.

As an illustration of such types - we have a crater in our front garden from Nov 2005 where the local neighbourhood morons planted several fireworks in an attempt to cause serious damage to the vehicles parked adjacent - it was our good luck their ignorance extended to the effects of blast and concrete and no damage was done. And their good luck that they survived the event intact....

Most of those who've served in the forces in one form or another will be familiar with the graphic nature of the training films used to educate the various members as to the dangers inherent in weapons and explosives. However a point worth remembering is that such films are only visual - everything else about them is, effectively, sterile sense-wise. When it's one of your friends on the deck and all senses are engaged - sight, sound, smell and taste - the after-effect is nightmares that never go away.

And on that basis alone John and Lees warnings are worth reading and worth taking to heart if unfamiliar/untrained with pyros and weaponry of any sort.
