Only ever come across one in service, hidden away with a bunch of other presentation bits and pieces, all of which were beaten, broken or otherwise is poor states, that was badged RA. Not sure whether it was a remnant from the AOP days or from an RA bloke working alongside at some point in the depths of history. I imagine it either found itself in a skip sometime after I left that Sqn or during its disbandment or is now secured away in a box with anything else deemed worth keeping, never to see the light of day again in some undisclosed location, when the Sqn disbanded.

Cap badge on the left of the poppy might be Hampshires (although there were several Regiments back then with similar or identical cap badges, differing only by having their respective names in the scroll at the lower portion). Cap badge to the right of the poppy looks like it could be Army Service Corps, subsequently post WW1 the Royal Army Service Corps then sometime post the Korean War the Royal Corps of Transport before amalgamating with 3 other cap badges and the RE postal courier trade in 1993 to for the RLC.

A very, or very very, soft cloth and some Brasso or Silvo gently done would probably do it. If you had a better pic of it as is might be able to make out the cap badge stamped on it, the attached pictures aren't very clear.

To resurrect it with a question, I've recently bought a mixed bundle of these in grade 2 or worse. The size 8 is beyond rescuing so am butchering that for fabric to patch up any holes in the remainder, however a couple of them could do with the lining being replaced as they've either disintegrated or have worn out down to the base fabric the pile material is affixed. Would I need to find a specialist place to do the work of replacing the lining or would any old tailors do?

Does anyone by perchance happen to know what size nut, bolt and washers are used for the bar that runs from the front legs to the back leg joint are. I've recently picked one up and it's missing them off one side.

Does this illustrate the correct way of wearing wristlets, woollen? I can't find anywhere that says or shows whether its worn with the part that covers your hand is over the top (covering knuckles) or covering the palm.

I shall look into that route then, pretty sure I have something here with sufficient fabric I can sacrifice for the job and might have family with a sailmakers sewing machine.

A few months back I came into possession of a 1944 dated camp cot going gratis, same design build as the current issue types but with wood and steel for the frame and the metal bits rivetted to the wood rather than screwed together , only recently opened it to check it over properly and found the canvas is torn. Wouldn't mind putting it to use but I think its a bit beyond my skillset with a sewing needle, and being rivetted together I can't disassemble it like the modern types to work on it either. Does anybody know anyone/anywhere within the Vale of Glamorgan(shire) or bordering counties that might be able to effect repairs? I shall try and get pictures sometime during the week of it and figure out uploading them if that helps.

To the best of my knowledge and experience, the only trousers out around the 2000's in DPM ripstop were the windproof ones as part of the rather short lived Soldier 2000 range. Like the matching Jacket, Field, DPM I think they were quickly phased out as being not particularly windproof and after a couple of washes and an ironing, or one exercise and a wash, were about as robust as a sheet of 2 ply bog roll.
