  1. Jeeparts or Dallas. What is it you need?
  2. Sorry mate, went a bit out of quote order. I'm not going to tell you NOT to save it! After all what's the point of us all being here if we don't do such things? :-D
  3. Nope! The value of a running series 2 at the moment makes rebuild worth while.
  4. Could be it was earthing somewhere else, that is now dirty or loose. On the other hand....My Dodge 51 was a reliable as taxes, started, stopped then refused to start again. Despite every thing seeming OK, it was the earth lead. Clean and refit no further problems. Yes, it may cause intermittent ignition, check battery contacts as well , clean and tight.
  5. From battery to chassis to any convient place on engine or bell housing. To quote the old mantras though Electricity is lazy it likes clean metal. I now always use toothed anti shake washers for Earths, save a lot of annoying problems. Put another one on somewhere, you can never have enough earth. If the truck was intended to carry a radio virtually all sepreate metal parts were earth bonded.
  6. It's which side of the pond you happen to be . A Jeep is relativley cheap in US, but a folding bike will make $5,000! As quoted on TV programme a while back. It's if you have the aces and the current fashion.
  7. Never mind about Jeeps, have you seen the price of Series Landies! Though the old adage applies, you can ask what like, but will someone pay it? Though it does seem now the only way to get into the hobby is to inherit. Any WW2 is now at least 70 years old, and they 'ain't making them any more, so the price should go up.
  8. A sad enough story without Muppets getting Gold Fever over it. How many people have heard of the Gustollf? Makes the Titanic look like a boating pond accident.
  9. We need more people of good taste on the forum, welcome to the Dodge Mafia. If ytou want her build card get onto the Walter P Chrysler museum ASAP
  10. Remember a GMC isn't just for Christmas! :-D May you have many happy years together. Are we having a cushion collection?
  11. Mate of mine had one for years. It was like eating onions, every time you thought you were over it the bloody thing came back:-D Best bit of advice, put a couple of large slabs in the back of it, they do bounce. There is one still in situ at Portsmouth dockyard seems to be a static display.
  12. Oh you are in for a world of fun! :cool2: Death defying leaps of speed bumps for a start. Welcome in.
  13. Actually the International Flag Code for Distress is V a red diagonal cross on a white background. Unfrotunatley, for many years that was the flag of Jersey. In 1977 proposals were made to alter the flag to prevent confusion, so in 1979 the seal of jersey , three Golden Lions on a red background was added in the upper quarter of the flag.
  14. Try feeding in http://www.awm.gov.au/collections then search Purification of water in the field.
  15. Whilst making sure the back was attached to a strong recovery hawser! :-D
  16. Trident trailers in Kent at Maidstone will set you up. From Southampton to Kent'ish, isn't to bad a run mostly motorway but good A roads if you want a change.
  17. Yes it's a local house , open to the public on Sundays. The RAMC were based there during WW2. Family has owned the place for about 600 years! :wow: and are very welcoming to muppets like me who like to poke around holes at the lakeside. :cool2:
  18. Don't start small then. :-D Lovely bit of kit though. Welcome in.
  19. Isn't sawdust a preffered cleaning medium for this sort of stuff? That shouldn't harm a hardened surface. I remember using it as a kid in little lapidary drums to polish up metal bits.
  20. Instructions for working anyone? :-D https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/F05257/ The place filmed appears to be Lullingstone Castle, near Eynsford in Kent. Fabulous place to visit.
  21. Buy the LED flasher, about the same price as a standard one, as so much easier than trying to solder resitors on. :-D
  22. Welcome in. Sounds like your well set up for such a project.
  23. Yes, No? (Showing my age now:pfrt: ) For those under about 80- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Take_Your_Pick!
