  1. One other local complaint I heard 'You can't move anywhere for bloody petrol tankers going to garage'.
  2. Depends on A your licence, B weight of trailer. Some of the trailers under 750kg mass don't have to have brakes, so a secondary attachment is very wise. If you have a trailer entitlement, override braked trailers now most have a secondary cable from brakes attached. Ensure it is good condition and the link is sound. I have room to strap around the tow hitch on mine as my trailers are eyes. If you have a period trailer it can become a bit more fraught, though the hitches them selves being eye rings have a positive lock over the eye. Do make sure that if you have a fixed hook the pintle on the trailer can rotate, and vicea versus. The Standard MW was a fixed hook, so must have a rotating pintle trailer. 50 mm ball hitches have built in rotation to the hitch were required. Do you have a specific trailer in mind and what sort of hitch does it have?
  3. Given the fashions and lack of H&S around every corner, makes you wonder how we survived.
  4. That's what happens when Land Rover let Footballer's Wives into the planning department!
  5. I had an original copy of that book! :-DWhen the filming was announced the Nord's and Messerschmits staged through Jersey. Evreyone was 'Poorly' that day and bunked off school to go up to Airport to see them.
  6. http://www.maplin.co.uk/search?text=buzzer&x=0&y=0 Suprisingly effective. little beasts. :-D
  7. Just feed LED indiactor into Amazon. There are a number available. I've found it a very useful site for bits. I got a three pin and added a cheap buzzer unit from Maplins. Much more use in an MV than a little flashing light.
  8. Looking at the picture. The answer to the slow speed is obvious! The Flares acted as wind brakes!
  9. You can load an LED with resistors to operate an old mechanical flasher unit, or do what I did and buy a replacement for about £8.:-D
  10. There was a glider training regiment at Cosford numbered 633. That could lead to interesting film. :-D
  11. Do it the easy way! Buy an LED flasher unit for about £8. Trying to load a standard one with resistors, stuff it! Also, remember to change any trailer bulbs.
  12. Far be it from me to insult a Childhood Hero! :wow:, (Though I did want to be Napoleon Solo, much more suave) I meant the sweepings of the cutting room floor, used in other films. Anyway I thought Lucas is supposed to have got inspiration from the 1968 film Battle of Britain?
  13. Not if you want to sell in some countries. Portrayal of the Swastika is totally banned.
  14. Don't forget the left overs! Some scenes were used in the 1969 film 'Mosquito Squadron' which starred amongst others Ducky, from NCIS and Dirty Den from Eastenders
  15. Ian , Steve! The perfect combination of your interests. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SA_n8tDsYJM&app=desktop :cool2:
  16. Thanks for the clarification. When are you going to start on an armoured train then? :-D
  17. What do you mean WHEN? French customs are a stroppy lot anyway.:-D Though I am reminded of the story of a D-Day veteran who when his passport was questioned replied 'You didn't bother with a passport the last time I came over'.
  18. Something we are not being told about BREXIT? Intresting thought though as a lot of employyes of Eurostar are French. I thought the vehicles wern't train gauge anyway?
  19. Where the Mossie crashes into the valley and two officers run through bushes to a vehicle. The door latch is unmistakable Austin Gipsy. Just like in Battle of Britian, the front door has a square plastic bell push. We knows you knows!
  20. Yes, Just leave the blue one blank. http://www.uk-trailer-parts.co.uk/7-pin-n-type-trailer-plug-wiring-diagram/
  21. I've done it with my Dodges. Not difficult. The 7 pin Ring wiring is standard. One thing I did do was wire in a towing relay to take the extra bulbs. One thing I don't do is use Snaplocks or chocklate blocks, either proper squezze connections or solder.
  22. Don't ..um..worry? Is that it? The age mate, :-D Must be something in the idea of changing. The bunch I work for are spending around £400 a vehicle to retrofit LED, that's on vehilces with only a couple of years life left.
  23. Even when pre 1960's vehicles were subject to MOT there were umpteen exemptions, simply because things like seat belts never existed when the vehicle was designed and built, and cannot be retrofitted to current standards.
