  1. The census number X5392500 refers to a contract S2490 and went to SS Cars (now Jaguar cars). The 82ZA70 will be it's re-registration in 1948 and this can be confirmed by the RLC Museum at Deepcut, but they want a fee to tell you this. Contract S2490 went from X5391001 to X5392640.

  3. This is a civilian part number and not specific to a WOT2. Ford used a lot of ready-to-use parts in wartime. Try Belcher engineering or o'neils parts. They may be able to help.
  4. Yes, it was at Knebworth. I think it was the first big show I took the truck to. Must have been 1983.
  5. The short stubby box spanner with a slot in the first photo is for a civilian Ford 7V truck.
  6. Is anyone here going to the Royal County of Berkshire show at Chieveley near Newbury this weekend? There is supposed to be a 1940s theme there and I offered my car which they accepted, but I now realise they didn't tell me which gate to enter by, what time to arrive or where to go on the showground. Anybody help, please?
  7. I just heard that 2014 is now fully booked up at Brooklands, so it looks like this event will be 2015. I am talking with the Early Ford V8 club at the next AGM and will get a date in 2015. I will, of course, avoid the major shows of the year. Anybody any preferences for a particular date? The idea of a line of WOT2 trucks sounds interesting.
  8. Date is to be decided yet. They originally came up with the Sunday before W&PR, which I turned down. I will let you know the exact date ASAP. Sounds like there is some interest.
  9. I am just asking if anyone would be interested in an event at Brooklands Racetrack in Surrey in August next year - 2014. It would be open to any vehicle with a side valve Ford V8 engine, such as a WOT series truck or Carrier, or anything with a Ford V8 engine. Exact date isn't confirmed yet, I'm just asking to see if anyone would be interested in attending. Please reply or send me a PM if you might be interested, I'm just getting a feel for numbers. Many thanks.
  10. My WOT2 was a breakdown truck once, in the early 1970s.
  11. I've got a spare drum for the trolley. PM me if interested.
  12. I was talking to Brian Baxter at the REME Museum today, and he told me they did have an MW based Fire vehicle once, but it had been sold off a few months back. It had been rebuilt/restored by a REME workshop before going to the Fire Services Museum. I did check out the photos mentioned before and there is an OY based vehicle to be seen.
  13. A friend has told me of an incident during Operation Market Garden, and he would like to know more details. He was 7 years old at the time, and he was out walking with his Grandfather one Sunday in September 1944. A glider became detached from it's tow and landed South of Reading where Junction 11 of the M4 is now (it was all fields then). He also remembered the Glider being taken away on a Queen Mary trailer. Can anyone here help with any more details, or advise where to ask? The local press are unable to help as I presume the incident was 'hushed up' to keep the Operation secret. Many thanks. Robert Davey
  14. There is a ATS Dummy in the REME Museum at Arborfield wearing one of these overalls.
  15. Now only 5 weeks away. I've had a few Wartime vehicles promised, but I could do with a few more. Also, if anyone could attend in British Wartime Battledress, it would help as they will have a 'Monty' to inspect the troops, and they need more troops - for this you get free Museum entry. Please PM me if you can attend, so I can make a list. Just to entice you along, they have promised food to people attending with a vehicle!! (A voucher you can use in the Restaurant)
  16. Just one tip. Black-out covers were made by Lucas and Butler and are not easily interchangeable. Key is the L or B in the part number stamped into the headlight and cover.
  17. I had a coil fail on my WOT2 a couple of years ago. It was working fine one day and then, on the day of it's MoT, it wouldn't start in the MoT centre's car park. After getting home via the AA, I replaced the 12v coil with a new one from the Green Spark Plug co and it's been no problem ever since.

    Itma

There's a Wartime edition of ITMA on the BBC iplayer website at the moment. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b007jyn7/ITMA_Its_That_Man_Again_From_29_03_1945/
  19. The 'Praying Mantis' is now in the Tank Museum at Bovingdon.
  20. Has anyone here been on one of the Mercedes Benz World Experience days? They have some on offer at various prices, and I wanted some advice before booking anything, which is to be a surprise for my eldest Daughter's 30th Birthday next April. So, anyone been on one of the 'Experience' days and what do you recommend? Many thanks. Robert Davey
  21. Thank you all very much. You have answered my question exactly. Just got to get the torque tube to line up now........
  22. I need some advice from 'Those who Know' to do a job properly. I have to wire up 6 Bolts Heads around the Torque Tube to Differential on my Ford WOA2. How do I do this, and what wire should I use? Anybody with any advice, please? Many thanks.
  23. Thanks. The Sun had got to me the week before, and the prospect of walking around in the heat would have been too much. Looking forward to next year, however.
  24. I have a Family ticket for War & Peace this year, but I cannot now use it due to illness. It can only be used by an IMPS member, as you need a Membership card. Also, as it is a bit last minute, it's best if you collect it from me in Reading. PM me for address and phone number if you are interested. Hate to see it go to waste.
