  1. Hello Robin The Hull number looks very clean. As if it's been recently welded on. However that could just be that it's never been painted over and has been covered by the data plate for all it's life. It is in the correct format and the hull number/build data/Mil reg all look to correspond. The nearest ferret I have to that is 05CC10 which has hull number 2143-9-59. Judging by other numbers I can see that the hull numbers are not sequential in contract KL/A/0008, so must have had some export orders mixed in with the production. Here are some photos of hull and turret plates for comparison.
  2. I'm sorry but being forced by the other half to watch scantily clad female dancers girate around is not too difficult :-) Ola and Natalie......I rest my case :-) Even though we have to sit through bruce's jokes! Tess aint half bad either! "I've said too much....back to the emer's"

  7. Hello there Griff and Mike. Please can you tell me your hull numbers to go in my "work in progress" Ferret Register. :-) Cheers Matt
  8. I once got 2nd degree burns trying that on an MGB. I'd "carded" some of the rad off to help the warm up in winter and as it was overheating once I thiought I'd check the coolant level....... Schoolboy error.... Ouch!
  9. Saracen 96BA69 is the plate is genuine... Looks a bit spartan to me... Poor old sarry :-( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1956-Alvis-Saracen-APC-FV603-Armoured-Personnel-Carrier-/220675728245?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item33614c6375

  14. Hello Guys As some of you will know, I'm trying to compile an up to date Ferret Register. Quite a few of you have already provided their Ferret details, for which I am very thankful. If any of you other ferret owners haven't sent me the details, I really would appreciate a PM with Mil Reg and Hull number details etc. Anyway. I have a document from John S from Ferret Heaven that shows a Withams tender of Ferret disposals from 1994. It shows Mil Registrations against MS numbers. This is very helpful indeed as is knowing the date of disposal. Does anyone have any Withams details of Ferret disposal? Or catalogues showing different disposals. If so I would really appreciate seeing the listings to help me with my register. Or any other information for that matter. Many thanks for you help Cheers Matt
  15. Hello Guys I found this VRN document on t'internet. It lists quite a few saracen number and variant. Hope it will be some help with the register if you haven't already seen it. Cheers Matt word doc too big up upload, so have zipped it. VRNARMY.zip
  16. Yes, it did have some damage to the offside front tin work. However the headlamp looks like it's had a knock! Yes, there are quite a few MK 1's which have been converted to Mk2's. The data plate is in the vehicle but my mobile camera couldn't quite capture the plate in better detail, so can't verify if it's genuine. Looking at the photo again, it looks ok, I just can't make out the hull number to see if it tallys with my records. I'll attach some more photos.
  17. Hello This Ferret 34BA64 was auctioned off in the Boys collection the other month. I wonder if the ferret was bought by Withams or is on sale by comission? I had a look at this ferret a some months ago. It looked fresh from disposal, with removed turret wire cutter and makrolon shield. NI? Of course it was stored inside at Select. See photo attached from select MV.
  18. Thanks Andy That is extremely helpful. I've added the info to my register. Cheers Matt
  19. Warm welcome Simon. Thanks for all the info! Cheers Matt
  20. Simon, I wish you the best of luck with the manifold nuts. They are brass and most of mine threaded when they were removed. Matt
