antarmike Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 RAF roundel on the roof for identification from the air? Quote
Runflat Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 By the shape of the rear door, it's a Ford WOA2. Quote
Tony B Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 I didn't think of a Ford, the picture is dated September 1942 Kent Yeomanary near Tobruck. Quote
woa2 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 The car is a Ford WOA2 and the date of 1942 would follow. Production started in July 1941 so this is one of the first batch (Contract V3936). The RAF roundel was used at the time as an Aircraft recognition symbol. Interesting detail is the Bridge plate painted onto the L/H wing, instead of the R/H side. Do you have any other WOA2 photos, and can I have a good copy of this photo for my records, please? Many thanks. Quote
