Grasshopper Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 There is one currently being restored on the Isle of Wight at the moment. I believe the only other survivor of a Guy quad Ant is the one in Oz. Quote
Niels v Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Hi I think that mr. Wheatcroft also has one. found this picture one his site. Quote
Nick Johns Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) There is one currently being restored on the Isle of Wight at the moment. I believe the only other survivor of a Guy quad Ant is the one in Oz. I rescued this Guy quad back in the early 1980's it was in a bit a state then, its had numerous hopefull owners since and at last its being restored Edited January 10, 2009 by Nick Johns Quote
Runflat Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I seem to recall John Rowell having a Guy FAT - turning up to Duxford one year with it perched on the back of a lorry. A few GS Quads exist as well. Quote
goanna Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 I've seen two others here . The restored one in the link was a one owner .. spent its life on a remote property and was looked after ... not abused . They usually had the body chop treatment and a crane fitted . Being cable brakes and very underpowered .. The good thing was the winch = they would have ended up in the timber industry or as a yard crane . They were only ever used in training roles here, I think the army considered them to be obsolete . Mike Quote
Rick W Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I did come across one some time ago somewhere up North, i was enquiring with the bloke about some C8 parts he had. If I remember right he had a quad limber up for grabs at the time. Dont know what happened to that? Quote
Richard Farrant Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I seem to recall John Rowell having a Guy FAT - turning up to Duxford one year with it perched on the back of a lorry. That was a long time ago, I think it was on a cut down Green Goddess and may even have been bolted on the the Bedford ! Quote
morris c8 fat Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I went to look at one in Norfolk when I got there it was sat inthe car park from a distance it looked a bit of work was needed. Then when I got to look around the rear body was welded boiler plate and the drivers seat was a 3 piece suite chair tied to the floor needles to say I went home without it Quote

early british ww2 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I've finally unearthed a picture!: I think I have some pictures of the same Quad Ant taken again many moons ago but I think the fire engine had changed to a Dennis max or similar . Does anyone know what has become of this vehicle?? I did chase after one of these a few years ago that was supposed to exist near Thirsk in North Yorkshire , which disappeared into thin air I know of a good number of Quad Ant GS's up and down in various states from a chassis to full trucks but don't know of many 4x2 Guy Ants like my own ?
