N.O.S. Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Protruck - could you tell us briefly what happened to Unipower following the closure, and if any remnants of the company/designs still exist please? :coffee: Quote
protruck Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) Alvis closed Unipower in August 2000 moving the production of the Unipower RIV 4x4 to Telford. There are a couple of engineers from unipower still working there. When the production of the RIV finished Alvis decided they didn't wont to build wheeled vehicles any more so that was that. I understand that the Telford site is due to close at the end of this year. If there is any info regarding the Unipower vehicles built at Watford give me a shout, If I can help I will. Scammell4199 Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Do you know what happened to the 12 wheeler? Quote
protruck Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 yes. its not in the uk. It was built as a bridging Vehicle for india. It was the prototype and I beleave some more were built under licence in india, but how many i don't know. This vehicle was 55ft long x3.5m wide and great fun. If I am correct in saying I think this is the only 12x8 ever built in the uk. Clive Quote
