rampant rivet
Had a good morning moooching around the auto jumble at Ross on wye and found what might be a bit of kit used in charging batteries Seems in good nick just missing one bakelite cover. Then started on the trap door catches. Edited October 29, 2017 by rampant rivet
andy1960
Any more thoughts on the little extra plate with 4 holes on the nearside front wing ? :cool2:
rampant rivet
Bit of a bitsa day today swapped out the suspect dizzy for a later version which has improved the running of the engine no end, then swapped the generator for a rebuilt unit which worked ok which will allow me to replace the bearings in the original unit. My good friend Colin Dix had turned me 50 oversize new nuts to match some of the existing ones on the truck so they were fitted to the off side rear body hinges etc. Continued to work on the latches for the trap door but ran out of time so still more to do, must remember the camera next time :-D

rampant rivet
Having got towards the final coat of paint stage any thoughts on the type and size of font to use for the bonnet number plus I have seen photo's of early mw's in France with the number stencilled on the side of the rear body as well but not sure if I'll add them there. Danny P
Hi Jeremy, Very beautiful! Maybe you can add some angle irons on the top edge of the wheel boxes. Think this was also original with the early bedford but I'm not sure! Check first! Danny
Danny P
Those angle irons were probably made from flat iron bent in an agle of 90 degrees. Hope somebody will confirm! Danny
Bigjohn
Yeah, mine has flat iron bent to an angle on all the edges. URL=http:/[/url] Edited May 11, 2017 by Bigjohn
rampant rivet
Not sure early body's had them fitted but could be wrong, what year do you think your body was produced big John ?
Bigjohn
Mines pretty early, not got a date on the body yet but the fittings indicate it's early. Have a look at the April issue of CMV magazine.

rampant rivet
At last after four years of hard work and good fun it's nearly there, took the wee beasty out for its first shakedown road run today rather later than I hoped due to a week spent in Normandy .Clutch needs to be slightly adjusted along with the brakes . After missing Wartime in the vale I hope that it will be at Welland by the end of July just need to get more miles on her. 10FM68
Well, I think she looks absolutely lovely - a real credit to you and your four years of hard labour. And all the better for the simplicity, don't overdo the markings and "add-ons" she doesn't need them! It was a good day for gentle vintage motoring in the Forest I have no doubt. I spent a morning on my project in the garage discovering that two different batches of paint may differ markedly in colour! Ho hum! Many congratulations. 10

rampant rivet
Thanks for the kind comments, on the whole it's been a blast, made some good friends and learnt a lot along the way as for another resto ? No I don't think I'll be doing anything major again I'll start to spend more time maintaining and enjoying the vehicles I have, four is enough, plus you can only drive or ride one at a time :-D plus I can't think of anything else I desperately want to own /restore.
