  1. Wonder if that was the stallholder who bought up lots of baragain Jeep parts early morning and then later put them up for sale on his pitch, of course at a much higher price!
  2. A few years ago Robbie Coltrane did a fascinating TV series called "Planes trains & automobiles" it featured a V8 powered air raid siren, they got it running, originally mounted on top of a tall building, remotely controlled, it ran on LPG

  15. It was used on this USMC GMC, more likely to have been used on marine application with the capstan drum for normal rope and the wire rope drum for winching/lifting, the two levers, one operated a brake on the wire rope drum, the other disconnected the drive so the capstan could run independently

  18. The gearbox...they can be very notchy or baulk to change gear when worn, check for worn layshaft bearings whilst in 1st/2nd gear, not growling by comparison when in top gear, also jumping out of gear on overrun...all mean fairly expensive job to sort out Look underneath for any serious oil leaks from transfer box and axles, worn prop shaft splines front & rear, again all mean work and money to sort out, if its 24volt check its charging ok with all the lights on

  23. Sorry to have to correct you, I watched some of the filming of the opening scene of the Bond film, "Die another day" it was actually shot on the much larger Long valley training area/vehicle test site near Aldershot, not Slab common Bordon and very spectacular it was too in usual Bond style..watch here....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrfObAiYrHY And further trivia, the also spectacular opening battle scene in "Gladiator" with Russell Crowe was shot on Forestry commission land just up the road from Slab common near Farnham, Surrey!! We ran the first AWDC events at Slab over 38 years ago! including the first ever Heavy vehicle trials, also held at other sites further down the road at Weaversdown and at Bovington, which after being reported on by an enthusiastic French car magazine journalist were the inspiration for the start of the Europa truck trials ! http://www.europatrucktrial.org/
