  1. Fine museum but total lack of promoting an MV day, last year half of the museum was closed, indiferent attitude of some of the staff, mv owners that did show outnumbered the public...they need a major rethink to survive

  5. I have some pics I took in the late 60's early 70's on the Plain of a well shot up but complete German 1/2 track, and nearby a complete 88mm gun! Have dozens of 35mm colourslides to go through and scan

The point you are missing is the landowner/Farmer is probably being threatened with prosecution by his local authority for storing scrap vehicles, deemed as waste, leaking oil and pollutents, on his agricultral land without a waste licence, and not complying with the criteria for storage of waste, ie, on a concrete base with oil and pollutent drain traps, The farmer is held resposible for clearing up his land. Gone will be the days when old vehicles are found on farms, this also applies to having a derilect or dismantled vehicle in your own garden/driveway if the council declare it as waste

I show the complete original film of "Operation Pluto" in my Mobile cinema, The 16mm film was saved from going in to a skip by a film enthuiast, it was thought to be an old cartoon film as it had Pluto written on the can! Its fascinating showing tests of winding steel tube onto a drum, from an idea put forward by Lord Mountbatten, its subsequent construction and the welding process and testing involved, come and see the film at W&P show and others next season

  13. I seem to remember when looking at it briefly in the rain whist waiting to be loaded. the turret appeared to have bolt on armour

  18. Had a look at the Chieftans the other day, the sand camo one has what looks like a Challenger turret, welded construction? prototype turret test bed? the other one is non runner.."do not run" painted on its side

  21. The Humber armoured car (Pig) was already being phased out of service and sold off when this Landrover film was made in circa 1967? The MOD susequently started buying them back to overhaul and re armour for use in Northern Ireland
