  1. From the Mod - The application on my post above is not needed Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for contacting the Ministry of Defence (MoD) regarding accreditation to be in Normandy and/ or attend DDay 70 commemorations and events on 6 June. The MoD is currently only assisting British Normandy Veterans (+ their families and travel companions) to obtain accreditation from the French authorities. All other persons wishing to travel around Normandy on 6 June should obtain accreditation directly from the French Authorities either: by email (pref-70-sticker@calvados.gouv.fr) or by post, using a stamped-addressed envelope (Prefecture-Cellule badgeage, rue Daniel Huet, Caen) Information regarding the process can be found at http://www.le70e-normandie.fr/practical-information/f-a-q/?lang=en with further information concerning the ‘Regulated Traffic Zone’ available at http://www.the70th-normandy.com/dedicated-areas/traffic/?lang=en. If you submitted an accreditation form to us prior to 10 April we will pass your application to the French Authorities on your behalf. However, if you are receiving this email and did not apply before 10 April then your details are not being transferred. Therefore you will need to resubmit your application (the details are likely to be the same as on our accreditation form) via their online channel on the website above. I apologise for the inconvenience this may cause you. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has issued travel advice for British Citizens wishing to make the journey to Normandy here. Also, do keep up to date by checking for latest news on http://www.gov.uk/mod/dday70 or http://www.the70th-normandy.com. Yours aye, Stuart Lowe Stuart Lowe | Lieutenant Royal Navy | MOD Ceremonial Events & Commemorations Team | MOD Main Building, London, SW1A 2HB | Civ: 0207 218 7917 | Mil: 9621 87917 | Email: PersTrg-DSSec-CECTMailbox@mod.uk |
  2. I have heard that there are likely to be restrictions to both foot traffic and vehicles to the main events and passes are required. Our group have submitted applications to Mod GB for tickets but we are going anyway. In previous years there was no problem at all and we had free access to beaches and all.
  3. Any heat will probably destroy the wiring integrity
  4. The beauty of this thread is the help that people give
  5. A good starting point would be a proper engine stand
  6. The big yellow bird has saved me from many a long walk........... Bless it.
  7. Now that is a lovely item to have in the study on the desk

    New Toy

I have had this a while now but getting git ready and posting photos has taken time If only the seller had been honest about the problems starting it, I would have saved a lot of time effort and money. I changed the glow plug relay, the glowplugs (oh what a job) and a new battery. Turned out it was fuel running back in to the tank. Managed to cure it with a primer valve. Took it to Yalding earlier in the week and spent a happy couple of hours giving lifts to people and towing a car out of the floods. I have got a small outboard engine but have yet to do the full floatation bit. I think a rope and a friend with a 4x4 is a must before I try that.
  9. Flux refused to take the Supacat when it came to the crunch so I will be leaving them come renewal
  10. Where abouts are you Bill? I can come along with a starting cable and some power, I owned one last year. I'm based in Kent
  11. Hell yeah, thats my man. Best your missis and my missis never meet...............
  12. Any vehicle rolled onto its side will sustain damage. Not to mention playing havoc with the fluids, I cant think of any vehicles with inverted fuel and lubrication systems.
  13. Having been there I have to agree with Bob. It is a place you will never forget and so well worth a visit. The silence is tangible.
  14. Oh Mark, bad luck mate. Cut their bleeding hands off. Its often a worry when kit is left at a location a way from the house, how do you stand with insurance? Is it covered with house insurance or does the vehicle insurance cover separate items? Best wishes Dave

    Insurance.

Yep. Before I bought my latest toy, I rang FJ for a quote. Not a problem sir, that will be £60 on top of the Ferret policy. After I bought the new bit of kit, I tell FJ only to be told. Oh no sir we wont insure that at all. Guess who is going to Flux come renewal of the Ferret.
  16. Isn't it a pain when several tons of wonderful hardware are brought to a crashing halt by 1 poxy loose wire............. Mine vehicle wouldn't start because of fuel siphoning back into the tank when stopped. That was after a new battery, new relay, new glowplugs and a lot of swearing.
  17. It all depends what you agreed to be buying but it sounds as though he is definitely having you over.
  18. Now aint that the beauty of the internet. Welcome Terry, are you using it on the city streets or on a massive ranch?
  19. Hi James, Pat from KCI buys a lot of stuff from our group and knows most of what you will need. The mark of Ferret you get is purely down to preference. The turreted version is more top heavy if you are going off road but viewed by many as looking better. At least it can be locked securely. Tyres can be a problem in which case the MK 1/1 & Mk 1/2 are lighter. I was talking to a guy from Germany who had some great modern off road tyres on his, I will try and find details. Welcome and have fun.
  20. Does anyone know the name of the guy from the Dartford area who has a road registered Argocat that was at W&P? I don't know if he is a member on here. I would like to pick his brains about it. Many thanks Dave
  21. Good idea mate, it will be a perfect fit. I was going to use cut bits of selotex but that has the foil over it. What do you use to insulate the top of the box against the battery terminals?
  22. Fantastic work Mr Donovan - not much room is there, actually its quite nice as a convertible..........
  23. I have just re done all the brakes on the Ferret and changed all the pipes to copper. Fortunate really as the front crossover pipe which is under the footplate was fractured and snapped as it was being lifted.
