  1. The seals on the gearbox throttle actuator were probably a bit dry to start with and have now re-wetted themselves, at a guess. Andy
  2. Bulldog itself didn't do anything to the FV430 hull, it just fitted a new engine and gearbox. You'd be looking for the specification for the Theatre Entry Standard for Afghanistan etc. I'm not sure that would be in the public domain. Andy
  3. I'd be surprised if you can find any reference to a STANAG. The best I can see is the description in AESP 2350-T-250-101 (Purpose and Planning Information) that simply says: "The FV432 was designed, primarily for use in Europe, to meet the requirement for a light armoured tracked vehicle to transport ten Infantryman in full battle order and their weapons safely in battlefield conditions." Andy
  4. Standing in the near-drizzle at Farnborough beside Buccaneer XV344 "Nightbird" with a fair number of other people ... Andy
  5. That's unfair. What they ARE interested in, because they're driven that way, is visitor numbers. How many people actually visit the library? Andy
  6. I assume this didn't happen but I'd love to see the video of the first attempt that ended up on Osborne Beach. Andy
  7. If it helps, I think you'll find that like the similar starter for the FV430s this is a standard Lucas CAV commercial unit, just with a different connector. You may be able to find an auto electrician who can repair it. Andy

  9. Congratulations - give her a set of AF spanners as a christening present! :-) Andy
  10. Would anyone have a couple of these four-lobed wingnuts going spare on an old backpack? I can't find any being sold as spares and I need two for Abbot and Stalwart radio tray clamps. Andy
  11. My pet hate with any of the interactive/computer-driven stuff is that it usually packs up after a couple of weeks and no-one knows how to mend it. Cue blank screens and tatty apologetic notices ... Andy
  12. Depends exactly what was in it and if it had generators on the roof. I've come across a number of variants. Andy
  13. I said I didn't think that (vehicle) was ever an FV439. Wrong NBC box for a start. Andy
  14. I don't think that was ever an FV439. Possibly an FV436? Andy
  15. I've always found that a tap from a sledgehammer is more effective than any amount of constant pressure. Andy

Did you ever manage to find any more information on the Clansman fit? Neither Clive nor the REME museum seem to have the elusive EMER. Andy
  17. Weren't you supposed to be organising a family outing to the Spinnaker Tower, wink, wink, nudge, nudge? (And perhaps that multiplug is for the flasher relay?) Andy
  18. Oi - I resemble that remark! :cheesy: Andy
  19. I've just passed both my Foundation and Intermediate exams back to back this afternoon. :-D Andy
  20. I like the boiling oil suggestion - also works on unwanted salesmen ... Andy
  21. Hence the name "Fury", perhaps? :-) Andy
