  1. It was very busy, I think the main car park was full by 1100! Here's a few photos, firstly outside: And some of the usual vehicles inside: Andy
  2. Thanks Richard, I'll give them a shout, although if it's as reliable as the QinetiQ reference I don't hold out much hope. One of the other NSN sites shows a supplier called Aston who I can't identify. I've also emailed Leoni who now own Rists. Andy
  3. I've dug out the attached, which may help - it's from the Abbot ISPL. Unfortunately without drawings of the actual harnesses it's a bit blind man's buff, but I think the fitting I'm after is 5975-99-804-1058. Andy
  4. I have some NOS FV600 series looms that I'm going to cannibalise for the smaller fittings. They seem to have been manufactured by Rists but I can't find a current supplier. This is another example, purchased via eBay: Andy
  5. Most of it became a retail park, but QinetiQ ran a small area of the site for bridge test and wet gap crossing until a few years ago. It now has, or is about to become a supermarket and housing estate: http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/9320528.Multi_million_pound_plans_to_transform_derelict_Christchurch_riverside_site/ The pub/restaurant on the retail park is called The Bailey Bridge, so at least some history remains. Andy
  6. Brilliant Pics. I was going to visit last time I was at Carderock but didn't manage to find the time in the end. Andy
  7. Thanks Robin, I looked at that but I think they reused the old end fittings. That's an option although I'd prefer not to as they need splitting to get them off in the first place. Andy
  8. Does anyone know of a source for the screwed end fittings for the conduit fitted to the outside of AFVs? The Abbot has a number of mangled conduits that need renewing. I've managed to source some NOS conduits from other vehicles that will replace most parts, but not this large screwed union, which is 1" diameter (the parallax in the photo is deceptive): Andy
  9. I don't know about the Chieftain but on the Abbot there are two distinct systems, the recuperator which looks after recoil and the equilibrator that balances the weight of the barrel. Does the Chieftain have only one system that does both? Andy
  10. Can anyone point me to the EMER references for SANIE? Thanks! Andy
  11. For info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Radar_Establishment Andy
  12. I think that's a sensible way to approach it - power up from a bench PSU and measure the voltages at the test pins. That will at least show if the PSU card is working and you can work on from there. Andy
  13. "When working on the PSU card I normally power these individually from a current limited 24v laboratory power unit, this makes testing of the individual supply outposts much easier". This doesn't really make sense, but I assume it's trying to say that the PSU card can be powered up out of the rack from a bench supply to check that the various outputs are being correctly generated. Seems a good place to start. Andy
  14. Just show her much shopping you can get in them! :-) Andy
  15. Welcome aboard! Andy (2E0DFR and owner of assorted 351 and 352s)
  16. If the PSU is known to give problems that would be my first port of call, especially if the IBMU is completely dead. Do you have any information on what voltages it's supposed to produce? Andy
  17. Note by the way that it was a fire safe, which does exactly what it says on the tin - they're not designed for security. A second-hand Chubb EDR or similar from eBay would just have sat there and laughed at them. Andy
  18. Welcome aboard Robert - whereabouts are you based? Andy
  19. Personally I'd just use old-fashioned lead/tin multicore solder. I always thought the flux had a rather nice smell ... :-) Another annoying thing to consider - if you've got boards with microprocessors on them you should be thinking about anti-static precautions. A pukka wrist strap would be good, but touching something earthy before and during dismantling is a passable substitute. Hold the cards by their edges and try not to touch any of the computery bits. I agree that the spigot thing is some form of mechanical location but I can't for the life of me see from the photos what it's actually trying to do. Andy
