  1. If you want the Land Warrior Website to order the DVD at the lower postal rate, their address is http://www.landwarriorfilms.co.uk/ Not a bad video, but I think they could have shown more vehicles and walked further than the arena and living history sections.
  2. This is an Arc welding trailer, with a Ford V8 engine. I was offered one about 20 years ago, but didn't get it.
  3. The DVD of the 2009 show is now out. I ordered my copy from the War & Peace website and they charged me £4 postage. Only found out today that I could have ordered it direct from Land Warrior Films and only paid £1.99 postage. Good DVD, but the Land Rover section and the Vietnam Veteran interview do take up a fair time. Not much of WW2 Brit vehicles.
  4. This is just a bit of Fun getting ready for Christmas. If you could write a Letter to Santa this Christmas, which 3 things would you ask for? Only condition, the 3 things must cost no more than £500 in total. Also, you have to add a sentence as to Why you deserve the 3 items and an example of something good you have done this year to deserve them, as we all know that Santa doesn't visit naughty Boys and Girls. OK, over to you.
  5. I have several Forks and Spoons, all wartime dated, which I could take to the next Dallas Digout if anyone is interested - cost is £1.50 each. I beleive the digout is Jan 3rd.
  6. It also qualifies as one of the worst as they do not allow any photography. Good museum with some good displays, though.
  7. Just one bit of information - Bren pouches should have a press stud fixing. The tag kind of fixing is Post war manufacture.
  8. I disagree. It was set up by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, and it increases the sale of New cars. Who benefits? The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, of course. Ooops, this is getting Political. Better stop. Best lie down and think of my Ford V8 for a while....
  9. Just heard one fly over my house. I live in Reading and Chinooks are based at Overton, which is very close, so Chinooks are a regular site. Still nice to see them anytime.
  10. I was watching a TV programme about the Car Scrappage scheme, and there was a piece about an old driver who had traded in a early 1950s Riley for a BMW Mini. Fortunately the dealer had realised what was happening and a Riley enthusiast bought the car for the £2000, allowing everyone to be happy and the car to be saved. My question is, has anyone heard of an MV being traded in under the scrappage scheme?
  11. I found a DVD Box set on Play.com that contains the Black Tent as one of the films. It costs £47.99 though and is titled as the Donald Sinden Icon Box set. The link is http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/3363401/Donald-Sinden-Icon-Box-Set/Product.html?&engine=froogle_film&keyword=Donald+Sinden+Icon+Box+Set++DVD&_$ja=tsid:11518%7Ccc:%7Cprd:3363401%7Ccat:Movie+%3E+DVD+%3E+Boxed+Sets
  12. I saw an old film 'Scream and Scream Again' on TV this week. It was made in 1969, and the Enemy soldiers of a fictious foreign power used a Bantam BRC40 Jeep in one scene. Anyone else spot any rarities in other films?

    thefts

A few months ago my Neighbours burglar alarm went off. I phoned the police and unless I could see signs of forced entry or someone on site, then they didn't want to know.
  14. Anyone know when the next Dallas Dig out is??
  15. OK, it's not Military, but it's interesting. Only Military connection is that I was collecting my newly rebuilt gearbox for my WOA2. On Sunday afternoon I was in Bedfordshire where the A5 meets the M1 and saw a convoy of Traction Engines on a road run. I think there were about 5 or 6. Anyone know anything about it?
  16. I do not know of a complete LCA, but there is the front of one in the Museum at Arromanche. They were plywood construction and didn't last, but they had Ford V8 engines, hence my interest.
  17. Sighting binoculars for a Javalin missile? Keep looking at the target and they guide the missile?
  18. Probably why it rusted......
  19. If it's of any interest, the British 1907 pattern bayonet was designed to give an Infantryman the capability of attacking Cavalry troops, hence the length of the bayonet when used with the SMLE rifle.
  20. The 1907 is the pattern date. The numbers underneath is the manufactured date. I can make out 4 09, which is April 1909. Pity about the scabbards, as these are rare bayonets and it will affect their value significantly.
  21. BBCi player to catch up on programmes I have missed, including 'The Navy Lark' which is being repeated on radio.
  22. I spotted these vehicles on Southampton Docks last week. Anyone know what the Desert painted trucks are?

    FORD at WAR

The original painting of the Bren carrier assembly line is on display in the Tank Museum.
  24. Would YOU hire a Digger and Driver from someone who loads a truck like that?
