How to be lucky...

You must have said your prayers the night before!

Certainly said them when it happened!! :)

Crazy thing is - we'd just pulled out of the Fleet services having stopped for a coffee break. Whilst the other half was getting the coffee's I had a look over everything from force of habit - including the 'vans tyres and hitch assembly - and saw nothing wrong....

Pulled out of Fleet got up to the limit of 60 mph and came up to the roadworks with the 50 mph limit. All was well until we started to leave the roadworks. Just accelerated up to the 55 mph mark when a little Citroen pulled alongside sounding the horn and the passenger pointing back at the van. That was the first I knew of it. Pulled on the hard shoulder immediately and started to brake and thats when the problem REALLY made itself known. Wound up getting the RAC out to change it as I didn't fancy crawling under the van with East European 40 tonners whizzing past just off the rumble strip!! :shake: :shake:

Probably what saved the day was the fact that:

1) the caravan has an Al-Ko stabilising hitch

2) the caravan wheels are fitted with "Tyron" bands designed to stop the tyre coming off the wheel in the just this case.

Getting the other tyre changed too - just in case!!!!
