Niels v
A small group here in Denmark are restoring a Sd.Kfz. 251, which where left by the Germans and subsequently used for mine clearing from the Atlantic wall defence on the west coast. Some history here http://www.missing-lynx.com/library/german/denmine/denmine.htm The vehicle was in pretty complet condition to start with but had been neglected outside for many years and had not been driven since the late fourties, due to a broken universal joint. The progress can followed here on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Gillelejegruppen/1442247706050133 Edited January 10, 2015 by Niels v

secondshooter
Very impressive work , do you have any pictures of what it looked like before you started?
Niels v
Well the last picture is when it was collected at storage before restoration Many years ago it was given a repaint before being shown at museum, sadly it the exterior paint was sanded down doing this. a couple of more pictures can be seen on the facebook page, which should be possible to view with out being a member. The group has a number of other vehicles aswell that people might find interesting.
Niels v
An interesting detail on the Sd. Kfz. 251, besides the traces of original Einheitsfarbe, this is an original front wheel nut and conical spring washer. Who say german vehicles where complex
Niels v
A bit more progress has made with the 251, and it is specially fun to recreating some of the details that we can document it had, we will be taking it to the Militracks event here in May. also interesting to see that the Germans had time, in 1943, to write in three language, made in Germany Edited May 3, 2015 by Niels v

Niels v
Yes it is nice that the effort is appreciated and to see a historic vehicle been brought to life again. But I do not enjoy driving it, the driving position is to awkward for me.

Niels - apologies for the thread drift Is the Me110 in your museum an original airframe or a reproduction with/without some original parts? thanks sk
Pzkpfw-e
Some original parts from several airframes, one wing & tail are replicas.
Niels v
@ Paul I cant remember what the chassis number is but the body is from KYW: Aktiengesellschaft Ferrum Panzerung für m.SPW, Werk Laurahütte, Siemianowitz bei Kattowitz (Now in Poland) @Simon yes as Pzkpfw E says, it is made up off original parts and replica. The original wing has flak damage. the landing gear is original aswell, but I dont know that much about it, I am mostly working on the 251, 17pdr and M10

Niels v
Well it has been known for many years, it was displayed at the royal arsenal i copenhagen for many years almost since the war, then moved in to storage in the nineties. It is on page 6 of the surviving panzers's list. The look of it has just change a lot since we begun to restore it, which might be the reason since you dont recognize it. Niels v
aaaaa... Yes I think it is to much of a replica to be on a list of surviving Bf 110. But as a static display it does the trick, and the cockpit is fully equipped.
draganm
aaaaa... Yes I think it is to much of a replica to be on a list of surviving Bf 110. But as a static display it does the trick, and the cockpit is fully equipped. AFAIK, there are only 2 other surviving examples ,so a replica wing and tail doesn't really take away from the fact that this is a very rare aircraft. oh and Nice job on the Sdkfz
Niels v
I just have to share this, we where looking through some digital archives, and came a cross a, for us, unseen colour picture of the 251 taken in 45. We have pictures of it in 46 but have never come a cross a war time one until now. it is the one nearest the camera, with the rocket frames on, there are number details on it that enables us to determine that this is the vehicle we restored. The picture is from a local historic archive uploaded to arkiv.dk
