Christmas Parcels for our Troops

Anyone wanting to show there support to our troops, how about sending them a parcel or donating some money so a parcel can be sent to them?

This is a great local charity to me and they would appreciate any support

Not trying to be a wet blanket but sending your own parcels is not such a good idea & its probably too late. The charity would be the way to do it.

Sadly there must always be an element of suspicion about gifts from unknown sources. No doubt it all has to get carefully scrutinised, which takes time & resources slowing up family mail. The anxieties are summed up in this old NI poster.

just remember that squaddies don't want baby wipes and bottles of shampoo, it's got to be booze and porn closely followed by sweets for those that don't want to bend the rules, vodka in a cleaned out shampoo bottle or porn with another ordinary mag cover stuck on will lift moral no end ;)

Exactly! Mind you the poster that still sticks in my mind was the "snipper bait poster" the one with the pretty girlie.

Make a donation to an appropriate charity:-).

Cunning plan in theory but if you do send anything out to a "nominally" Muslim country don't send anything alcoholic, be very careful with reading matter (even car mags have too many girls in them) and certainly nothing religious. While I don't give a flying **rt for the "religious sensiblities" of the talabs I really don't think sending anything other than sweets etc is wise - it only gives them propergander - encouraging the buggers to regard our chaps as infidels- hope that wasn't political.:-(

Went to the new Tesco in Bishop Auckland, they are currently accepting donations for troops to be sent out in Jan 11.They can be left at the store or you can donate complete boxes. Don't know if this is local or national. We intend to do 2 boxes to be sent out with them.

Would just like to add on this, i was out on op Telic 12 and they MP's would scan everything sent, any bottles found would be investigated, and dependent on contents could get the sender and the recipient in trouble. this process also slows down the delivery of mail for the troops.
