Autocar U8144 van truck restoration

I hope those are genuine UNF bolts you are using and not metric rubbish. I will be taking notes you know!

Also found that you'd left the dust extractor (vacuum cleaner) for the blast cabinet, I'll come by and drop it off soon.

All UNC thank you very much - and at great cost! I have established that Bonda Primer bites well into the BZP so there's no concern about using shiny bolts.

New rear chassis crossmembers have been drilled and test-fitted.

Donor GMC rear bumperettes being re-drilled for the Autocar chassis mounting holes. Question - does anyone know what material the bumperettes were made from? They drill really easily for the first 3/4 of their depth from the outside (as shown), and then the rotabroach just refuses to bite further.

Progress has been slow and erratic due to multiple other pressures but we have now had time to do a bit more. I won't bore you with photos of components being blasted, primed and undercoated but suffice to say there are very few parts now not on the 'ready-to-fit' shelf. The engine is now well on its way to completion with just the starter motor to refurbish and fit.

The biggest achievement of recent times was extracting the chassis from its dry store out into the field where it is to be steam cleaned, shotblasted and painted. I towed it a fair way with the Dodge WC but when that ran out of turning circle I had to resort to lifting the front up with the bucket of the JCB and manoeuvering it that way.
