woa2
I was at Beltring today (Sunday). Set up my tent and roped off enough just enough space for myself and MV, 2 friends with their vehicles and tents and secure space for my Grandaughter to play in. I will arrive there on Saturday or Sunday with my WOA2. Saw a BIG Russian Military truck on the road outside with LR escort.
Adrian Scott
Totally agree mate ! :angry I think i And my friends might be one of the people that you are talking about that has roped off a large area ,but we are turning up on Saturday with bewteen 15 - 17 mainly WW2 vehicles , and as we are lucky enough to live close enough it makes sense to mark out in time what we need . Regarding the space issue the show seems to be getting more and more popular even though we all have to pay a entry fee !!!!!!!!!! .We are going to try and come over either Mon or Tue eve to put some tents up ,Look forward to meeting some of you at the show . Look forward to seeing you there !

Markheliops
I'll be down tomorrow morning to set up my little patch. Staying the day then off to work for the night shift. Back Tuesday - staying all day - then off the work again for the last night shift. From Wednesday - on annual leave until endex of War and Peace. Looking forward to it. I shall be annoying Lee next door if anyone wants to pop round. Markheliops
LoggyDriver
sounds like everyone is having fun but loggy is right it is not good when you turn up mon or tues with one or two vehicles to find large areas roped off, often massive areas with hardly any vehicles in making it very difficult to find a space. A week off work still aint enough. show organisers ought to have more control and stop people being greedy. That's exactly what I'm talking about Martin. It's not good when you pay a fortune to enter the show and a fortune in fuel to get there, turn up a WEEK early and there is no room. I've seen it all before. People marking out massive amounts of room and not having the vehicles or admin to fill the space. Last year there was an ugly incident where some people turned up and demanded to park in some space "reserved" for others who were supposed to be turning up about 3 or 4 days later. The people who were supposed to park there went somewhere else. There was a very heated conversation to the point I thought it was going to kick off. If you have the vehicles then that's fine, but some people are just plain greedy and take far too much space. A perfect example is these people who own massive American sized motorhomes who bring a Jeep and cordon off massive areas. If it was a free show then not much you can do, but when you pay to get in then you have a right to the space you need for what you have booked in (Military wise). Personally I think they should only release the space a week before the show. Most of us can't make it down to Kent weeks in advance to claim our plot. It should be a level playing field for everyone!!

Then the show would not be ready in time, I don't think a lot of people realize how long it takes to get all the vehicles & displays in & set up.. I know in Americas field that Debbie who is in charge there goes round asking people with too much space to take people on their plot.. the one's that get me are those that take up a whole plot with a civy low loader... Get to know your fields chief marshall & have a word to see if they will reserve you a pitch if you are a regular.

spanter
Over the last 8 or so years we have been going we have had to get there earlier and earlier to get a space, thank god for annualised hours and late shifts! Last year we came down on the saturday before the show as we did the year before and found no room in the middle of big monktons but thankfully Malcolm Dunlop squeezed us in with the cadets, we struggled to get the 5 vehicles and tents in the space but managed it. When we went to leave the cadets had stood on the tow bar of my friends trailer and accidently pulled the wires out of the towing socket, that took a lot of head scratching thank god I'd taken a multi meter. This is the reason we went down so early not to grab loads of space but enough for what we need, there are a lot of very greedy people but the marshalls do manage to get people into wasted space from wed-thurs, always worth looking in big monktons opposite the shermans and other 2nd armoured and behind the aid station display, as these people always take more than they need and have been massively offensive to anyone who tries to use a tiny bit of their space but the Marshalls should sort it out this year. Hoping for a relaxed sunny week only holiday this year before the wedding so fingers crossed!
gritineye
I know in Americas field that Debbie who is in charge there goes round asking people with too much space to take people on their plot.. This is just what happened to me last year, I had pegged out a large area for five or six vehicles and trailers, my choice of site was not deemed suitable by some of our group who arrived later to peg out, and we all parked else where. I was very politely asked if I still needed the space and it was then given to someone else. Don't be afraid to ask but be polite, it can be like waiting in a pub for a table to eat at sometimes, but just because there is someone sitting at a table with spare seats, it doesn't mean that right words won't allow you to share, and you can even meet new friends that way. Last year I came down on the Saturday and it was packed already, luckily my mate saved me some space. This year I'm driving the Bedford and my Missus is driving the Defender 110. We are meeting up with a mate who's driving up from Cornwall in his M109A2 and heading down to the show. That's two Heavy trucks, Defender, 2 x 12x12 tents, shower tent, admin area, then there are my mates who would like to camp with us so that's another Reo, Land Rover, Bedford MW. None of us can get up there before we come down, so I'm just hoping that on Friday there is still enough room.
