  1. Recently came across some issues of Wheels & Tracks which I had hidden away. Inside Number 48 was a 12 page article about Loyd Carrier's. Thought that this picture might be of interest as shows some of the surviving examples which were around in 1994.
  2. I think it has been on eBay before, about six months ago but the seller pulled it off after a while. Apparently the F8 is still around in a quarry in Staffordshire.
  3. Although the link below is to a very lovely Dennis F12 (and a Staffordshire one at that :-D) if you check out the photo's you can see what I believe is an Albion CX22 next to it. On the second photo you can only see one side of the bonnet and cab and on the third photo you can see part of the offside of the vehicle. Having looked at various Albion photo's I think it could be a new one that I haven't seen before, and one not too far from me! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/dennis-f12-pump-escape-fire-engine-1960-vintage-classic-not-goddess-thornycroft?item=220971291868&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6875746232973977875
  4. I should imagine it would have looked something like this one?
  5. Thanks for these interesting pictures. Is that the fuel tank behind the cab? Pretty vulnerable positioning if so.
  6. That one has been on ebay for a couple of months now, with no takers for some reason. It says it has been in barn storage for a good period of time so you would like to think that there isn’t anything majorly wrong with it. Hopefully someone takes the plunge and purchases it.
  7. Thanks guys for clearing that up. Thought it might of been of interest to others when I saw it hanging on the wall.
  8. I have recently returned from a trip to Holland and while I was there I visited the Heineken Experience. The picture below caught my eye as I think it's a Mack, however I couldn't decide if it was and if it had been used by the military or was purely just civi spec. All the caption said was that it had been taken in 1954. Any help much appreciated.
  9. By a stroke of luck I had a look on Google Earth and someone has taken a close up shot of this one which is sitting in the field by the M5. Turns out it's ANY 168H that is sat rotting away.
  10. Such a shame that this event is clashing with two other big ones on the same weekend, as it's lining up to be an excellent one with the attendance list you guys have drawn together. Unfortunately I will be at Wartime in the Vale, but all the best with the show!
  11. Hi Bungy, just been asked a question about the Martian's that were in service with Glamorgan Fire Service. Can you confirm what reg this one is? Scott
  12. A bit of archive footage here: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/forest-fire-control/query/fire+brigade
  13. Looks like comedian Ross Noble has been having fun in the snow with his Abbot, according to these pictures he put up on Twitter earlier:
  14. A Waco glider according to this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-16862992
  15. Just been reading an interesting article in this month's Heritage Commercials magazine about a recovery firm in Wales that run a number of ex-military vehicles. An interesting read and you can see some of them on the firm's website here: http://hesletonrecovery.co.uk/default.aspx
  16. Some excellent period footage on this link, http://www.britishpathe.com/video/british-expeditionary-force-in-france-1940-britis/query/france+1940+british
  17. Here you go, this is what I believe is on Streetview. Although looks like there a few other bits in the yard as well.
  18. That is, I believe, a Leyland Martian on Google Streetview. Wil' try and find a photo. Scott
  19. Thanks for sharing the pictures and like others I look forward to seeing this progress. I'm guessing ex-Italian Army in post war years?
  20. Didn't notice that Richard, as you say seems as its now 18 months down the line perhaps the idea has been dropped. Scott
  21. Was looking at some articles for work and stumbled across this: http://profeng.com/news/charity-hunts-for-tank-project-cash I haven't read anything about this before and thought it might be of interest to others.
  22. There are a number of reviews of last year's show on this thread here, http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?24641-Trucks-and-Troops-2011 Safe to say a number of people were put off after last year's show. As I mention in that thread above it was the first time I had attended and having driven 182 miles we were all done by around lunchtime and were on our way home again at 2.00pm, not something you would expect from a national show. Might be different this year with the two shows being on a different weekends, but as BRB says above I'd save your petrol money and go to Overlord instead.
  23. I use both Facebook and Twitter personally; the latter is mainly just used to keep up-to-date with news, sporting news and other bits and bobs as I rarely tweet. I also look after my local non-league football club's Twitter and Facebook pages (I know we aren’t meant to talk about sport but it is hopefully in context here). Those Social Media sites have been a massive help in promoting the football club in the local area and raising the profile of the club in order to get supporter numbers back up to a reasonable level once again. I'd say on that front they are very useful tools as I have many people talking to me about the team’s results, which they have seen on Facebook/Twitter, even though they don't particularly support the side. Scott
  24. Is this the one you are on about? Taken at The Great Dorset Steam Fair in 2008.
  25. This was in our local paper the other week (in the letter's section, hence the title!) and have just got around to scanning it in. Thought it may be of interest.
