  1. This one has covers over the exhaust fishtail ports. Remembering that the early Comets didnt have fishtail exhausts, I wonder if that's significant.
  2. Needs more WOT2s like the black and white film
  3. Now transmitted across the Internet on 100% recycled electrons.
  4. i think I've got some and I'm probably closer - PM me your address, and I'll take a look.
  5. That is a gorgeous vehicle. I'm very jealous. Well done!
  6. Bird cages? The tether and weight on the top indicates they're the tropicalised hurricane-resistant version. On a more serious note, are they anything to do with airships?
  7. Coat-hanger, bent, for cargo handling.
  8. I found some references to this, if I remember correctly, when I was looking into the Churchill Crocodile flamethrower. Most of the Churchill's were noted as brown/camo, while the Croc's were based on the new mk vii and were green. I can't remember where I read it now.
  9. I think it was just the ravages of time coupled with the blow over she was given to sell her. There are some photo's on the net of her on the Isle of Wight before being painted which show her numbers.
  10. Wow, these are great, both from a personal story point of view and a technical one. I've been collecting a range of training materials myself and I'm in awe if how well these chaps recorded the information.
  11. I agree -I think there are two different issues being discussed on this thread. 1) whether a like button would be nice to feed back appreciation to an author. 2) whether pressing like should change the post order so popular threads are prioritised. Personally, I quite like the first as if you're new to the hobby some of the more polarised discussions can be difficult to follow. Sometimes wrong people can be more noisy than right people :banghead: I've seen on other forums that a "like" count helps with differentiating good information from bad, without stifling the discussion. E.g. person A says it's left hand thread, person B says it's right hand, take a look at the likes and you can see who most people agree with. That's good feedback that doesn't end up in an argument, though luckily we're a more reasonable crowd on here than on many internet forums and don't suffer from too many heated discussions.
  12. This might help, it's from the Daimler Scout III training pamphlet.
  13. Some helicopters can lift tanks, but it looks like they need a tow.
  14. I'm still hopeful that CMV will pull it together. It always had the better look and the popular take on vehicles, but was always a bit fluffy. MMI had the better journalism and more interesting articles, but it was hit and miss on what they covered. Together it could be an awesome magazine, but I get the feeling its still finding its feet. The last few issues havent held the same level of interest.
  15. A little something to whet the appetite This is Tank Transporter, 30 ton, 6x4-8 ,semi trailer, Scammell
  16. Well done and good luck to those taking the show on Just wondering if I was the only one who read the thread subject and thought "Health and Safety Executive"
  17. I was advised to use duck oil on matt paint. It works well, leaves a bit of a sheen and brings up the colour.
  18. Well that's one way of beating the clampers.
  19. Hey, I recognise that 432! I didn't expect to ever see it again
  20. Aha, so one of these then - http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30028439
  21. I'd imagine it's for a howard pattern sun compass, like the one shown here: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30028093 It looks like someone has the instructions up online here - http://trademarklondon.com/resources/SUNCOMPASSINSTRUCTIONSa.pdf
