  1. Quite a piece of machinery Glad you have been able to restore them too many HMV's have gone to the smelters far before their time ,and lost forever !

  6. Hello Jim , although I m far from the East Coast now I lived in the USA town twined to your Billericay , Billerica Massachusetts . Glad you have found your way to the friendliest forum on the web . i m sure you will find a number of others with interests in both Steam Vehicles and Matadors it may take them a little while to find this thread so have a look about and enjoy.
  7. It all sounds Normal to me . Not much in the way of attic space so all militaria resides in the basement liberary closet not as small as you might think. Saving grace is an outbuilding its a rather small garden shed or for the last resort the three car garage , funny about that discription as only two cars can fit in it at present LOL . Oh that's right the Ben Hur is resting in the third bay currently .

  9. What is the seating arrangement on those ? what I mean is there a driver postion and a commander postion ? that switch depending if the vehicle is moving say in convoy or if using its bucket for excavation work ?
  10. I m starting to think that there are more parts to that winch system than in some American MV's total !!!
  11. Make one wonder why they didnt do something about the conditions rather than keep dragging everything through that bog! Even the bulldozers and the tracked vehicles got stuck I guess when they had drive line problems ? Perhaps they were waiting for winter .
  12. Just thinking of the German 88 originally built as an AAA gun , they found when used in a last ditch defence against ground targets it made a Great AT weapon and then mounted in the Tiger and King Tiger as the main weapon . Pardon if I used or left out any of the others tanks it was used in .

  18. Look like the recoil would be handled by the twin out rigger stabilizers on each of the gun cars , I d expect the mast telescopes to below the height of the railing on top of the rail car to allow for bridges and such.
  19. I say its rather darn inconvenyent needing to find a suitable slope everytime you need to elevate the gun !:-D
