  1. Ah well that explains it! The MOD answer to any problem: Make it worse!.:-D
  2. Welcome in, I live near Orpington Kent. The local hospital was Canadian Base Hospital No 19. You need to vist Juno next.
  3. Nobody told us the world was out to get us, that we were depressed and suffering from eating disorders. The greatest health and saftey slogan was: 'Careful, you'll have someones eye out with that!'
  4. They were, well, still are quite large wedges. As the wheel moves down hill there is friction on the block to slow the caraige. Bear in mind the horses have the weight pushing on to them in this case. If they go down, major brake failure. Modern carriagies have disc braes.
  5. Feretfixer, you are so right. The Copper's on the beat do a lousy, antisocial job, mostly dealing with the effluent of the gene pool, and are e xpected to die for them! It is the muppets sitting in offices and Parliment who know nothing about the practical aspects of the job are the problem. Chief Officers used to have to come up from the ranks, now anyone who can convince enough people to vote for them can do the job. We get the Police we deserve, is still very true, Britian unlike many places is policed by consent. Jersey is better Police officers are elected. Diana , Jackie, I know many Female Police Officers as friemds and colleguses, accept an embarrasing slip. No matter who a Police Officer is , most of them do a sterling job.
  6. Considering the grief I had earlier in the year with my two De-Ac's and the Police 'Guidelines'. ACPO will be getting a warm fuzy feeling. Oh well roll on the Referendum, my choice is now fixed.
  7. Do you know where the picture was taken? That might help, a lot of stuff went to Africa from Goole. You know Paul, looking at them the look to be 'Office Body' types like yopurs. How is the Old Lady by the way?
  8. Tried to get similar for the back of the QLR. Same problem no one seems to make it now.
  9. Have to say it beats running behind getting covered in wheel spin trying to throw chocks behind wheels. Old horse drawn carrages had the opposite. Blocks whereplaced in front of the wheels going down hill to prevent them running away.
  10. Welcome in Sean. What sort of props do you make? Always useful to know if you can't find real.
  11. Might know something suitable. Will PM you.
  12. Ouch! The old days a Series one , running with MOT was about £150. I know a well restored Series 1 ex military recently went for £8,000 and that was considered conservative. May be more realistic to consider a 2 or 2A, they are more reasonavble and still well worth restoring.
  13. Intrestingly John Mc Crae's brother Thomas was Surgeon General of the Ontario Military Hospital in England. It is now known as the Canada Wing of the Orpington Hospital. I go past it most days. As an aside, a few years back the NHS wanted to demolish the block and sell the ground for housing, much to the disgust of us locals. A short sharp letter from the Cnadian Goverment pointed out the NHS don't own the site The people of Canada own it! :-D
  14. Welcome Dave, theres as much, if not more skill to modelling as mending the big ones.
  15. He had it bright pink with two plastic pigs wearing police helmets stuck on the back corners and drove it up Whitehall. None of us including the Fuzz outside No10 could stop laughing. He pulled up behind a little Vauxhall Nova, the drivers reaction had us rolling on the floor. Ah Happy Days!
