  1. Welcome Harry, you'll be inundated with poepl asking advice.
  2. No fortunatley 'THEY' deided we can own a .22, 'THEY' were even gracious enough to allow us to keep .22 self loaders! So both the Moss and No2 are used regularly. The whole subject of sport shooting and hunting, wth or without hounds is a very charged political subject in UK. so I'll avoid a slap on the wrist from the Mods. :-D
  3. A .22 SLR copy :nut: Put me down on the list for one! I have a SMLE number 2, these are .22 versions on the SMLE No1, they were made as .22 for cadet and training use.
  4. The chevy had two uses in the US military, an ambulance...and...a hearse! I've got the details somewhere I'll look them up.
  5. Very nice guys, I'm green with envy about that workshop
  6. Isn't that K2 the 'London' varirty? The small bulge for the spare wheel allegdley to fit through the narrow streets?
  7. What makes you think the Welsh are British? :cool2: Intrestingly the 'English' Longbow was mostly made from imported Yew. English Yew being to soft due the wetter climate.

    So sad

Yes but Browning worked as designer for FN, so I've heard because Colt made life a misery for him in the states.
  9. Show off! I have a Mossberg MB42a, from a batch delivered in 1941, issued to British Army under Lease Lend, only made for British use. It is .22 bolt action, marked US property, The main diffrence is anything offred for sale over here has to be proof marked. There are two proof houses Birmingham nad London. they also proof mark de-activated weapons. Embarrisingly I'd been shooting the Mossberg for a while before it was noticed , no proof mark! The reason is it had gone stright into military use and been transferred to a Sea Cadet unit where it stayed till 1990. A quick trip to Birmingham was order of the day. so now has all its marks.
  10. I don't know if the story is apocrical but allegedly during the first Gulf War sand was shipped out as the local stuff was not suitable for sandbags.

Gimpy was originally an FN design as was SLR, funny how neuteral countrys make the best weapons. Note SAW is an FN design as well
  12. If you ain't been douched, you ain't a proper Dodge owner. Mine christned me the first time I took her out. Steve Rivers laughed his socks off!
  13. The top one is a Ross bayonet. Not that rare. They have a higher muzle ring than the Enfeild bayonets, hence the two cuts in the grip to idntify them. Blades are identical. Value £75 to £80 mark Second one looks like a SLR bayonet. Don't know value on these but they were going up The third 'bright' one is I belive a presentaion copy of the SLR bayonet.
  14. There is a dog house! I'm usually occuping it! However I'd happily share

    Mystery Boxes

CORRECT!!:yay: They are Britsh Military Carrier pigeon boxes! Suprisingly I was told they finally went out of use in the early 1960's. As an aside, during the Occupation it was illegal to keep Pigeions in Tthe Channel Islands.
  23. Point of order! a lot of 'English' archers were Welsh!!
