  1. It would be advisable NOT to have the Bren visible when you are on the road.To teach egg sucking, when in transit cover completly. So far you need third party liability, mebership of recognised group yardi yardie to own a pice of wood shaped like a Bren, but not a de-ac! Check the proof house mark on any purchase. It will be two swords with a date. The certificate will be from Birmingham or London. Check the mark corresponds to the certificate and the serial numbers match. Advisable to keep a copy, clearly marked COPY of the certificate with you when your out with it, but it the proof mark that is definitive. The mark will include a date of proofing, this dictates the amount of de-activation required on the piece.
  2. You lot have started early! See you all tommorow, don't block the toilets.

Old Rovers like old Military never die, my Range rover has been recycled at least once. The same with the militarys, diffrent equipment comes in, vehicles get altered to do the new job. I have a 1944 Dodge WC51, except, the Norwegians changed the engine in 1962, A lot of Dodge ambulances were rebuilt immidiatly post war for Korea. They were stripped then re assembled from the pile of bits at the end. The same sort of thing happens to now so what is original? Just remembering a TV programme about Steam Railway engines, a replica of a very old engine was being built, then an original part was found, so the replica, became a rebuild.
  4. The trouble is the Moderators know their members.:cool2:
  5. I had an 1155 in my bedroom! :yay: They were much sought after.
  6. When you were young you liked your women tough and firey! Now the main thing to look for in a woman is patience. :noyay: When I had a Teal at Penton Hook the boat next door was Ex destroyer Foxhonud, she had a Dunkirk plate. There were also still a number of converted MTB houseboats on the Thames. One of the oddest , quasi ex military boats I knew was the States of Jersey oficial tug, Duchess of Normandy. The one in service up to the late sixtes was an ex German Rhine tug. she has been brought over in 1941 and was kept as repatrations after the Occupation.

Perhaps this one goes a bit far.
  8. True, unfortunatley. :noyay: The sailing school in St Aubin's had one as a gaurd boat. Two 75 hp engines on the back , great fun but a run in decent (ie rough, I was about 15) weather you came back covered in bruises.
  9. Well I suppose the goverment wouldn't miss a tax loophole like that, or the oil company a profit.
  10. As long as you can recite, 'Pugh, Pugh, Barney Mc Grew Cuthbert Dribble & Grub British Fire Brigade's are often reffered to as Trumpton by the other emergency srvices.
  11. Anyone know the fate of an old AFV called Black shark? She sat in St Aubins harbour for years, the bloke doing her up had a LWB Gipsy then suddenly she was gone. There was also an old LCI at St Helier for years. I'd like a 16 foot Dory Rigid Raider if anyone knows of one.
  12. The other thing that freacks them out is wake. Pity its not diseil, you could claim its a boat and run on red.:cool2:

  14. No Jeff! Some us are sane, our voices tell us so.:n00b:
  15. Some people have all the luck! Great pictures , quite a combination of war birds. Seeing the old 1155 in place brings back memories.
  16. Leave me alone you rotten S*D! Try reglazing a LWB Safari! Every time you pull the drill out from the black fuzz, after it has wrapped round the drill bit , the rest closes over the hole so you can't see......actually , with the minds on here, stop digging boy, the holes deep enough...:-D
  17. If you can afford it get 'em ready glazed! Channel is available from most Landy part stockists but it is *** miserable stuff to try and fit. The important bit is DON'T damage the top locks for the windows. They are rocking horse poo. The fastening is a small drill and self tappers. Trouble is when you drill into the fuzz you losse the place becuase the fuzz covers it.
  18. Condolences on your loss. Another god man gone, but he has left you quite legacy in the vehicles.
  19. Abn, to continue your education in English culture. http://www.eh.org/evans/trumpgo.htm Now you see why we are the way we are. :shake:
