  5. Stick the 'orse on the front! Then it moves and you don't have to worry about seat belts etc. You can also have a p*** against the back wheel! :-D
  6. And the classic! Your wardrobe is back in fashion! Mind you , number one son, all of 21 came out with 'Kids nowadays' the other day.
  7. Ah happy days, carrying a bunch of slightly tired re-enactors through Hastings on one of my first outings with the Dodge. :-D Neevr dared go back since! For Great War songs a copy of Oh What A Lovley War is recommended. http://www.ww1photos.com/WW1MusicIndex.html

  9. Yes she was 4X2. The vehicle was at DERA Aquila, had been used to test sonar gear in a deep hole bored on a corner of the site. I managed to find a home for her but she was to far gone for restoration so ended up as a donor vehicle.
  10. Just send a couple of first class air tickets! We'll glady come over and confirm the identification :-D Happy to help. Can you post a few general pictures the whole area of research is fascinating! The lateast pictures could be a trailer. The upright maybe a drawbar. Many early trailers were also adaptable to be horse drawn.
  11. Thanks, the only disiel version I've had dealing with was an ex Ministry of Supply box back, we all called it the RS. The reson for disiel was that the vehcile was used as an electronic test truck.
  12. The problem with fitting belts is if you do, then all the fittings must comply with the BS standard. Daft thing is I drive a big red target all day without any belts fitted. I'm sure there is a gene that means some ***** don't see buses. Back to the old, what makes a good driver? The ability to avoid other peoples acidents! My view is that modern vehicles are TO safe, I've got anti lock bracking, tractyion control and the latest Hum Grumet! Trouble is you then drive till the hum Grumet can't cope , so what now? Old vehicles talk to you , if you listen they won't let you get into trouble.
  13. There was a Disel version called the RS I belive. Atlas cranes if the serieal leters are EA then it is the military version. She is a pretty little beast.
  14. Hi Alan . Congratulations The RL was TRUCK OF THE YEAR in 1952! Have you the petrol or the Disiel version?
  15. God idea Jack! But maybe a trip out of season so we can do what do best, bicker, point out faults on vehicles, head for cafes and bars..... :cool2:
  16. The answers would have to be sent in a plain brown envelope! :cool2: There are plenty of sites on the net will give you the words. Most songs seem to have a very long history just slightly altered to fit the times.
  17. You remeber BEFORE mobile phones and internet
  18. Not true, they was a piece on the BBC 4 Today proggrame this morning. A vetran who spoke for the first time. Try BBC iPlayer.
  19. Please3 can we have another trip back there? A proper guided tour by Joris and Co.
  20. The trouble is that most regulations have an 'except'.Vehicles pre 1964 are exempt seat belts and as long as the pasenger is not siting on the floor but in a seat ATTACHED to the vehicle structure. So if the troop seats fit firmly to the side OK. Remeber the old bench seat Mini buses? All the info I've been able to find so far is for vehicles post 1982!
  21. Welcome Sharky! I'd keep any enginnering knowledge quiet at the moment. You'll be inundated!
  22. When SAGA put you on there mailing list! :shake: You thought Muffin the Mule was childrens entertainmet. You still think LSD is currency.
  23. No you need the dreaded Driver's CPC to work commercially and an O licence if not driving for a company that has one... don't go there! Basically depending on age of vehicle. If you carry passengers in the back there must be seats. So a series three with a standard back, benches can carry passengers but a HCPU no benches can't. It's Construction and use regulation that covers it.
