  1. Welcome aboard. Someone else from s.e.london:thumbsup:
  2. Must have had one hell of a headache when that landed. I bet his spine wasnt in good condition either.
  3. He,s halfway through a full stolly rebuild at the moment. Thats without the servicing and repairs on Ferrets he is doing.
  4. I have said this before, and this is no disrespect to the forum. But i have seen it on other web based sites around car clubs. Sites like this could see the death of smaller clubs. For instance you are getting up to the minute info, news, and pictures here. Whereas with a club you have to wait a month to read anything, and then have to pay an annual membership fee. Also the added bonus with it here is,that forms of friendships are made here before actually meeting people. It breaks down barriers. Sites like this will be the way forward.
  5. Here you are mate. Have a drink on me. Happy birthday:thumbsup:
  6. Neil. Dont take offence at this. But if that stolly was mine, then by now it would be sitting on top of a pile of wood, with me holding a five gallon jerrican and a match. Or the more obvious i would be dumping the thing back and RR and telling them to sort the f***ing thing out once and for all. They made sure they charged you enough in the first place i would put the onus on them!!
  7. Cheers Richard. I have read that report before.I still wouldnt mind trying one.
  8. Well i know its not a club of sorts. But i think this forum gives more in terms of friends made, information given, and recieved and a different outlook on the M.V scene. I will give an example. That old fella Catweazle was on the verge of giving it all in a couple of years ago. I told him about the forum,he joined and the rest is history. Just look at the Bunker Bash. Old wise one was still up till 2.30.a.m socialising. You wouldnt have seen him doing that two years ago. He would have been in bed by 10.00. And up the next morning moaning to all that listened about the f***ing noise coming from the tent next door. Now its like someone has restored him to his former glory. See. So just from that little story, then this forum and the people that use it,has given a lot more than all the previous clubs mentioned.
  9. Who,s David Ives.......... Oh thats who he is.........
  10. Richard. Did they find a cure for this problem??.
  11. Ted. I can only tell you what i found. This would have been very early 80,s.Just one other question. Can anyone point to what the fundamental flaws in the vehicle were. As all i read about is former service people moaning about it. But never giving a definative answer at what the problems were.
  12. Just spoke to my father. Although the Dodges were bought direct from Vauxhall, they werent built there,as dodge is owned by Chrysler. And Vauxhall/Bedford G.M Even he was a bit miffed how they ended up at the Bedford plant,as there were loads there. They were all brand new. Mainly L.H.D. I naturally thought, that with the numbers sitting outside that they were manufactured there. Maybe they had some sought of tie-up with Dodge U.K. All i do know is that they were had for a very, very good price. My father did try to buy some more. But i think someone higher up realised how much they were being sold forand put a block on it.
  13. They must have bought all the tooling from G.M,as these were being made at the Bedford plant. The 6 we aquired were all pre-production models and badged as Dodge. They even had some of the test equipment still left in the cabs. 4 were chassis cabs, and two had bodies on them. 2 were 4x4 and the rest normal 2wd. Of the 6.my father exported 4 out to the Jamaica and Barbados. The other 2 were sold here. The Ford Series A is a different cab to the Dodge, and the Renault interest came a lot longer after.
  14. I cant provide pics of the comms pack. But here are a couple of the G.S version........ There was a lot of bad publicity about these when they were in service. I can only report good things about them. My father had 6 pre-production ones of these back in the early 80,s that he had bought direct from Vauxhall/Bedford,s Dunstable plant. They were originally badged as Dodge, before Renault. The original origins are from the U.S.
