  1. A quick googling of that number gives it as this company: http://www.vintageandclassicshockabsorbers.co.uk
  2. In case no-one has a spring available these guys had one made.... http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?17085-Busbar-spring-Ferret-Gearbox Hopefully you have all the bits to show a manufacturer nearer you. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon with specs for it! Good luck! Oli
  3. Just the method I was thinking of but thought I'd ask in case I was missing the obvious! Thanks Clive
  4. Apologies for the thread revival but during my googling on this subject it seems like this may be a likely source of info. Mainly directed at Clive due to his earlier post, I've also recently purchased some penthouse lamps for the back of my Wolf and am wondering about the best way/position to mount and connect them to the vehicle. Are there any specific fittings I should be looking for? Are they hardwired or demountable? Many thanks, Oli
  5. That's exactly what I've been looking for, thank you so much Clive. Its amazing how a diagram can make things so much clearer after looking at small pictures of parts online and trying to organise them in your mind! Ninety-seven variants!! I think I'll stick with my one for now! Now it's just a matter of finding them all........still, it could be raining! Cheers, Oli
  6. Fantastic, thanks Clive! Very useful things those AESPs! You wouldn't also have an illustration for how it's bolted to the rear tub would you? Cheers, Oli
  7. Hi guys, a little question for you... I'm converting my wolf from soft top to hard top (bit more secure round these parts) and can't find any diagrams of the fixings to hold the hard top on. I think the part numbers are ASR1131 and AYH100780, but how many of them and what size bolts do I need? Also, as the hard top I've sourced is an ex-commando one (or so I believe) it has a whopping great hole over the front seats, presumably to allow them to escape if it sank during a beach assault, which part do I need to cover that? Cheers, Oli
  8. Alas, with most things in life, hindsight is a wonderful thing! Ideally you would have fitted some seats in the back and written 'Estate' as the body type and '6' for the number of seats on the V5C application. Mine came with seats fitted from Withams and I had it delivered to me and registered it myself as such. Having previously bought a landy off them, which was subsequently sold on partly because of the LLEZ, I knew what they were likely to do on the registration if I let them handle it. As for what you do now, I'd get some seats and belts in there, get some photos taken of them in situ (possibly with the soft top sides rolled up to avoid questions about windows until you have time to fit them) and write a polite letter/email to the DVLA stating your case and pleading that you filled in the form incorrectly and that you're very sorry and won't do it again and please could they change the body type on your V5C. If you're lucky and they're in a good mood...............it may not cost you too much! :-D Best of Luck! Oli
  9. For those outside the UK there is a fairly easy and free way to watch iPlayer/ITV Player/4OD etc. Download the Firefox browser and install the 'Stealthy' add-on. Then in the configuration menu set your country as GB. Sometimes you'll need to turn it off then on again and sometimes it doesn't like the java on the websites, but normally it's fine. I'm watching the BBC4 programme ( Part of a wider BBC4 British Army video collection ) about the 17th/21st Lancers in BAOR during 1968 whilst in Paris at the moment and about 5 minutes in there are a fair few ferrets happily motoring! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00jrhyh/Tuesday_Documentary_Death_or_Glory/ http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/collections/p00hl622/army-a-very-british-institution Cheers, Oli
  10. Hi guys, saw this posted on the Flypast Forum today, so thought I'd pop it over here in case anyone was interested. Cheers, Oli
  11. Have you been reading my mind??!! One day I will have my own 262 (the B-1a/U1 Night Fighter version), and a garden large enough to take off in!! Of course unless the CAA create something akin to the US 'Experimental' category I may have to move abroad to see it come true! Thanks for the welcome guys, I'm looking forward to joining the MV owner's club!
  12. Hello everyone my name's Oli, and I've been interested in military vehicles for as long as I can remember. Listening to my grandfather talking about driving Artillery Tractors and Bedfords during the war at an early age probably influenced me a bit! And now finally I'm of an age where I've got enough spare cash to start looking at getting something!! I've always liked the Bedford QLR and the Matador, and I hope at some point in the future (hopefully not too far, far away!), to get my hands on a Kettenkrad! Day to day I'm a Commercial Pilot, but unfortunately with the current economic problems I'm unemployed, so it seemed like the perfect time to get myself something to do in the evenings/weekends to relieve the stress of job-hunting and interviews! Other things that take up my time are an interest in the late-war Luftwaffe exotica, Ju 287, Do 335, Ho 229, He 177 etc, designing a heat recuperation system for modern turbofans and trying to stave off the "Captain's Belly" by doing some exercise! Cheers, Oli
