  1. It's a Panzer I, discovered in Kareliya. Now in a private collection "near Moscow".
  2. Some original parts from several airframes, one wing & tail are replicas.
  3. Fandabidosie! I heard that the Heinkel 219 was near to completion. The Horton HoIX/Gotha229 is going to take some mending to get it up to the same standard.
  4. I'd say it was their adaptability & arguably, until the US M3 halftrack & its variants was available, nothing to replace it with. It wasn't a "light tank" or tankette, like the TKS & T27. OK, it could carry a Bren or Boys, they were dismountable, unlike the weapons on the "proper" tankettes.
  5. http://www.martingracephotography.com/-/galleries/antarctic/antiquities/-/medias/3f3d4552-49dd-11e1-a751-4f10fc71b281-caterpillar-tracked-vehicle-at-east-base-1939-1941-1947-1948#loc=/-/galleries/antarctic/antiquities/-/medias/3f3d4552-49dd-11e1-a751-4f10fc71b281-caterpillar-tracked-vehicle-at-east-base-1939-1941-1947-1948&refr=off&t=1427214521652 In Antarctica!
  6. Some items still there. http://www.iow-charm.org.uk/ https://www.facebook.com/1436528586628801/posts/1585117805103211#!/groups/1436528586628801/?fref=nf The Conqueror wreck & its ARV sister, plus Conqueror "William" can be seen on the Facebook photos, but that looks like the lot!
  7. Yep, Churchill MkII. "Churchill Mk II hull – Springhead Hill, Storrington (UK) "It was during the training leading up to the Dieppe raid that 'A' Squadron, 14th Canadian Army Tank Battalion (Calgary Regt.), suffered what was then unceremoniously termed a 'dead-head'. This was the serious breakdown of a tank, and it is believed that due to the impending Dieppe raid and the gradual re-supply with Mark IIIs, this 'dead-head' was deemed as unsuitable for repair and withdrawn from service. It was then handed over to the infantry units of the 2nd Canadian Army Division and taken by them to the infantry training grounds above Storrington. Here the tank was used as a range target being fired upon by PIAT anti-tank weapons, amongst others, and when the troops pulled out after the war, was left sitting on the Downs. After the war, a member of the range clearing teams, who now lives in Storrington, remembers that to remove the tank it was simply rolled over into a bomb crater and buried. On 20 November 1993, the tank was recovered by the R.E.M.E. having been unearthed over the previous years by a number of hardy enthusiasts. Once rolled out of its grave it was placed on the edge of the field where it remains to this day." (Glen Carter). The turret has been used to aid restoration of another Churchill (Michael Fairbrother)"
  8. http://www.skr.su/news/244487 IS2 recovered from Sakhalin. (MIG17 & IL2 wrecks also mentioned on same page)
  9. I think it's one of the RNAS's improvised armoured cars, a Clement-Talbot. The plane? Very hard to say. Early war, 4-blade prop, I'm guessing it's a BE2C
  10. English aircraft towed by armoured car. Edit- Ninja'd!
  11. Part 2 is more interesting, includes the PzIV on the Golan Heights. [video=youtube_share;BUY9ZQDb-eU]http://youtu.be/BUY9ZQDb-eU I've not seen the one at 1-07 before.
  12. The RNAS were indeed famous for their armoured cars. The first Rolls Royce armoured car. http://www.rrec.org.uk/Cars/Rolls-Royce_Armoured_Cars/Armoured_Cars_in_Action.php Article complete with your cap badge!
  13. No scam, these will be bits of either one or several Tigers, dug up somewhere on what was the Eastern Front. Many chunks have surfaced over the years.
  14. Tiger 1 known survivors Bov (Runner) Kubinka Saumur Vimoutier Munster (Stitched together from bits from Trun scrapyard & modern parts) Lenino-Snegri (Wreck-ould do with many of these bits to better restore it) Fort Benning
  15. Go on, give us a clue! http://the.shadock.free.fr/Surviving_Sherman_Fireflies.pdf
  16. [video=youtube_share;yrzHIIKeeHE] Hope they treat their human patients a bit better!:nut:
  17. [video=youtube_share;H6H9egZiU1Y] Who recovers the REME?
  18. [video=youtube_share;e6-pPCcYe2I] Well, that didn't go quite as well as hoped!
  19. Close guys, it's a Trippel SG6. Wheatcroft's got a couple in his collection.
  20. The A7V was quite fast for a tank of that era, 9mph on road & a nominal 4mph cross country. Comparable with the British Whippet.
  21. I'm leaning towards Vickers, either light tank or Carden Loyd. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e6/Vickers_Carden-Loyd_tankette_reconnaisance_vehicle_at_the_Royal_Danish_Arsenal_Museum_(Copenhagen),_pic18.JPG (Big picture, trailer wheels the main thing) I'd probably discount Maultier, that for me, fails the "How did they get here?" test. I can't see a Maultier popping up in the UK.
