  1. Often used as the basis for a "Hetzer" or a "Marder III"
  2. When it ran aground, press reports suggested that the cars would be scrapped, as were those aboard another - MV Tricolor. The risks of law suits, should any of the cargo be involved in an accident being too great.
  3. [video=youtube_share;wAzsR4AzuGI] Lawn's a bit bigger than most folks!
  4. Good bit of modelling. There's been a rumour circulating for a few months, that a Ferdinand has been found in the Ukraine. Sounds like the usual "There's a Tiger Tank in that swamp" to me, but any whispers you've heard?
  5. Now, that's caught my attention! Model from the 1955 film?
  6. Nice to see one that isn't being reverse-engineered into a Cromwell.
  7. Some good photos there, maybe a few that aren't on the lists. A lot of Japanese armour survived, because of the remote areas they were deployed in. No roads to have them towed/lorried out of, even in smaller chunks & little demand for their steel locally. The aircraft wrecks weren't really salvaged for their Aluminium until the 1960s either.
  8. Actually, apart from American armour, there's arguably more Japanese than any other, scattered throughout Pacific islands & other remote areas like the Kuril islands. Check out http://the.shadock.free.fr/Surviving_Japanese_Light_Tanks.pdf http://the.shadock.free.fr/Surviving_Japanese_Medium_Tanks.pdf
  9. Some great photos there. Renault FT in German service, lots of camp life. http://www.rescuedfilm.com/#!rescuedwwii/c1d05
  10. There's a Type 95 prime mover displayed at Airai, Pelaleu. A Type 98 Ro-Ke in the Beck Collection, Australia. Possibly/probably this one's the same one shown in the photos above?
  11. Several have been cosmetically restored externally, they were emplaced without engines & often their tracks & other running gear too. It's assumed that the tarted-up ones will be put into museums, but to my knowledge, no locations are known.
  12. I reckon it's a Vickers Carden Loyd turret!
  13. Can't see any reason for the RAF to keep them open, enough bases for them to close as it is, short of basing one plane & one AVM at each!
  14. I personally think that there's more promise in the Anglia behind it.
  15. Only 2 runners in the UK (Now) Bov's got one, the other from the East of England Military Museum. It looks like that one. It was at Beltring in '06 with the camo on the mantlet & barrel.
  16. The Becker Collection's on the same FB page, there's a Bergepanther in there!
  17. From a Facebook page. Puppchen KS75? Fw190/Bf109 drop tanks. Kubelwagen Schwimwagen Carrier or Maultier suspension? Goliath Shedloads of other trucks etc.
  18. http://the.shadock.free.fr/Surviving_Raupenschlepper_Ost.pdf Here's the known survivors. (Your's will doubtless be added shortly!)
  19. The JpIV has, as far as I'm aware, vanished. I don't know if it was a prezzy! Some arrests were made over the thefts. Bulgaria had a bunch of Panthers too, some of those were emplaced on their border with Turkey. Nothing's been heard of them.
  20. The first Jagdpanzer IV, was spirited off, believed to be in Germany. The rest were then recovered to a secure compound. A number have been cosmetically restored.
  21. It's one of the many Shinhoto/ Chi-Ha left on Shumshu, in the Kuril Islands.
  22. I've not really noticed much myself, but I'm not in London? Other than the poppies at the Tower and coverage of the 100th Anniversary of the start of the conflict, I've not seen much. Doubtless we'll hear a lot more coming up to the 1st July 2016, with 100th Anniversary mentions for Jutland & Cambrai, then the finale 11/11/2018.
