  1. i am still here, having a day of rest as my back screams at me (pain) i had a delivery of a 3 main bearing engine and a gearbox both series 2a, both ex army and supposed to be series 3 landrover 5 mainbearing. wrestled those in the shed for conversion to the spec thats needed. atleast it had a bag of bolts for free and a oil cooler. still a happy man till it needs to go in.
  2. the 200tdi is a good lump, even without the turbo it produces enough grunt. the series 3 a good motor? yes, the wife had a discovery 3, went to a D90 and ended up in a converted/adapted series 3 109. i run a short wheel base series 3 as every day driver. i love the spartan way of life. can't wait till my 2,25 diesel 2a is back on the road, and my 88lw with recovery crane. cheers, Arjan
  3. i support the earth bank idea, would Rex be allowed to do that? i believe they wanted to keep the track in a state that it could be revived to functional racecourse again. We use buckets with lids as toilets, empty those at night at the ibc for chemical toilet waste. it might be a idea for non wheelchair users too. what wrecked me last year was the state of the field, starting and ending the day on morphine is not nice, i had a talk with Rex about that, same as wheelchair issues as getting stuck in soft soil. As for the war and peace shows, i went to the uk for a summer event from 2001 on wards, 2006 and 2007 at the war and peace, it was just a great atmosphere 2008 at the land rover show i thought wish i was at betlring right now, there is something better to that show. my wife had her honeymoon at that show early 2000's with her previous husband. now i live in the uk, married to her and enjoy showing off our vehicles, we are imps members (group of 5) and just enjoy the show what ever it throws at us. What can we do to help Rex build the show to the next level?
  4. Nice to see a fellow Land Rover series 3 man. your project is looking good, i do like to read your updates. cheers, Arjan
  5. that money got used on toilets but indeed, the artic trailer might be a more easy solution then a scaffold one, with a regular scaffold , lets say the Layer system you need a awful lot and it comes down to the number of people per m2 or just the weight of what can be placed per m2. i take it it needs to be accessible from the grand stand and a plan needs to be made to evacuate the allowed number of people. then it needs to be certified for safe use and if mr Cadman makes a load of drinking helmets in Ral 6014 he can barrow my sign "helmets to be worn on scaffold" :cool2:
  6. A harvey frost question: i found a recovery crane that needed saving, it is for a 109 land rover, what is the size difference with a 88 land rover one? I have a chopped 88 lw and plan to use it
  7. Another one, vehicles from ww2 were used to fill a gap in the sea defence after the flooding of 1953. no pictures of it to be found, but it would be nice to be true like the sega dump in 1983 in a new mexico dessert
  8. Buy itdms, have a courier ship it. If needed stuff can be hauled by dutch people going to the war and peace start thinking solutions my friends
  9. we never met , i think... but as part of the military vehicle family i want to wish you strength and wisdom in this fight to get over the hurdle life threw at you. if needed to cheer you up, a bottle of ale can be shipped. Arjan
  10. i am fairly shure that it is a german can from end of 30's to '41. Can someone tell me if i am right or wrong?
  11. http://www.tank-net.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33046 scrolling down, any use to you? cheers, Arjan
  12. magnet on the gearbox for digi tacho, crease in the paper with analog tacho, fuse 17 for rev limiter and if you are lucky, the smallest set of tyres on it to the station where they set the rev limiter to it's max then bigger wheels on when you are back to base. my instructor hated me for knowing that stuff
  13. we got monster raving loony party over here joeferret, Sutch a nice bunch and yes the screaming lord had his radio station on shivering sands army fort at sea, still playing the recordings. http://www.omrlp.com/ and some music, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fknUlQ3mlwM http://www.supertightstuff.com/05/22/pictures/tight-pictures/shivering-sands-army-fort/ to keep it military :-)
  14. Welcome, interesting line of vehicles you have. If you can... Show some of them at the war and peace. also, got a bomb tail spare? I like to upset my neighbors with it as a pond ornament
  15. You are rich, not financial value of the sherman... no having the skills and know how to remake a wreck in to a living vehicle. i hope one day i have the honor to meet you and shake your hand, see your work and learn from it. being rich is not about having money, it is what you make of life.
  16. automatic and semi automatic needs to be cut in half , pistols and revolvers milled 1/3 off and welded on a steel plate. bolt action rifles are welded up fully and these are legal to own. if a dutch man wants to have a uk style deact machinegun or semi automatic there is a gun license for it. a lot is possible, i learned it to late.
  17. it looks like talbot steering wheel, only those had 4 spokes in the T style. other forums had a steering wheel collector but even he said he did not see anything like it.
  18. Can't blame me for trying i have seen extensive wisdom on this forum on both military and civilian vehicles, i hoped someone might have seen something similar. the only mark i have seen in a C , in the hub section. The label on there is the luggage tag from a arabic airline to london Heathrow
  19. the hub of the steering wheel is aluminum, it would never fit a pinch bolt 2a steering column. 200 plus views and only one reply, makes it a bit hard to get info. cheers, Arjan
  20. might have been stupid, but that's how i work. the hole is too small to fit on a land rover series 3 column and before i have it altered to fit my series 3 i like to know what it is from. afterall it might be a part someone is looking for.
  21. i would not mind having it, after all... i can get myself home with the land rovers i drive
  22. land rover series 3 doorlock is "past it's best" i tied the door shut with rope to not fall out. maybe next week i get a chance to fix it.
  23. it depends if i can find a buick V8 diesel that i can afford.
