  1. Congrats. Next issue.... Metal or plastic licence plates? happy break downs
  2. http://www.interparcel.com i used them for 30kg weight parcels, in the uk and from the uk to nl without issues. you get several quotes to choose from. cheers, Arjan
  3. Welcome Friend, it never hurt to have a friend in Australia.... specially one with LVT ambitions. Cheers, Arjan
  4. a hand full of tapered reamers, second hand but many had old dirty coatings on them... bonus. a 100A sealey mighty mig, set up for a big bottle, also second hand but i am happy with that. not to forget the sheetmetal hole punch, a hot snot gun (glue gun) i must have been right good (stealthy) this year.
  5. you can still get those things as intake cyclones. i always thought it was invented during the 60's.
  6. i have seen a coax cable with screw plug for the ring mounted base. it was at s+c tat, at a war and peace show. his details should be on the EMLRA website.
  7. You are better with schematics then i am when i wire things up.... i build it a wire at a time, circuit by circuit. it would be nice to have schematics for every type of landy, from positive earth to the 1986 lightweights.
  8. and my wife said: it looks tidy, but it needs a car sized poppy.
  9. you tit.... you got lucky there, a speedy recovery is all i can wish for you. never ever get near the fan with the engine running.... do what my wife does when you need to reach and stand on a beer crate. live and learn :-)
  10. That is one half, the other half is keeping the other half happy would there be a career in making parts for people? It would take time before i hit your level, but i can set the bar higher as i go.
  11. That is something i have been looking for, i look forward to see the restoration pictures... nice to see a piece being preserved
  12. We have had 3x engine failure, 1x cracked head, 5x electrical issues and one startermotor that drew 700 amps and cooked the relay and burned the cable. Perfectly normal i guess, it is a land rover. My non mot-ed landy is headless as i used items on the other engine. All part of the game, i might invest in a lorry to haul them myself
  13. I would love to raid that skip i see so much being thrown out that i can use...
  14. It ain't that bad fresh cables sort out a lot you can do it wire for wire, modern spade connectors etc. i got to do 1x 88, 2x 109 and 1x 101fc, if my dad is nice, i will rewire his ones too. If you are less adventurous , try autosparks as they sell complete looms from the shelf. with a land rover you will learn soon enough.
  15. Not to scare you but... Thought about a full rewire? i just spliced cable, rewired so we have rear lights... The WD labled indicator stalk is wearing out and dash lights might be led ones soon The civilian wire schematic will have parts that are cheaper, easy to get and the military stuff becomes visual objects only. Cheers, Arjan.
  16. Mug restoration. as you know we both have specialities in restoration.... mix flower and water to glue the shards together, once completely build up, place in a hot oven 190C for 15 minutes and you can use the mug for decoration or carefully use it with drinks. cheers, Arjan.
  17. Time for a update. The engine i build up failed, 17 liters of mayonaise in the sump so the head got pulled. A hairline crack appeared under the rocker cover running across three cylinders. that was not there during the rebuild, i checked with my magnifing lens and all. i started at six pm, pulled the head from a sorn 88, pulled the head of the 109 and it was torqed up and valve clearance set at one am. The rest got done in the morning with the thought of me getting sleep during the rest of the day. Wrong, auto clutch failed and i drove to pick up a friend... Nice. Today i need to fix the rear lights and brake lights, checking the earth first....
  18. Just be happy you got a daughter, i always wanted one but nature decided differently. We got dogs instead. see the land rover as a excuse to get away from girly talk if you would be close to Mablethorpe you could hide in my shed. you would love the old tools i got, health and safety from the 1960's apply, yep your own brain. so far i spend 4000 pounds in parts alone, spending 100 for another pallet load today it is hard to polish out the effects of neglect by previous owners.... I need to chop up the old matress and make seats and back rests, a hot cutting wire in a frame and see where it takes me.
  19. wait till the air needs to be bled out. a tip, remanufacture longer copper pipes so the air nipple of the two front cylinders sits at the top. i have been in land rovers for 15 years and i still hate bleeding brakes. My help last sunday was a blind woman, i teach her mechanics and she is eager to learn. The seats in mine are bare steel back plate and half ripped base... Dogs climbed in the front
  20. In the 1962 we got volvo 440 seats and under seat fillers.... Indeed nasty to fill up. a nice seat can be jaguar seats with lifting seat bases my 1965 one gets elephant hide seats. Anything wrong with your current seats?
  21. Why not? (I got no tv or radio) if weather is poor just get used to it. a week ago i spend from 6PM till 1AM robbing a head from my 88 to get put on the wifes 109, dodging rain and calling it quits after the head was torqued up and valve rockers adjusted so the cover gasket could set. at 8AM till 12pm till it was sorted and ready to drive to fetch a friend. The auto clutch failed and i ended up driving it Glad to see you made it back ok... Tomorrow is my day of leccy as rear lights don't work on brakes and regular rear lights on both sides, and i need to get my lathe in the shed!
  22. Belated happy birthday party at yours? (probably a bring paint and parts party )
