  1. Glad he can help, the 109 rear springs i need he did not have, i can conclude this ain't my year. what bit are you parked in? I like to see your vehicle in the flesh
  2. A belgium plated lorrie got stuck at the entrance, on the bit going to Kitcheners field i helped push a family car out of the mud.. A series 3 land rover with two bald tyres up front did good. I have seen worse on a show ground but fun makes up for most
  3. Some six cylinder 109's had them, one tonne the most to pull the 9.00x16 wheels. well, i am at the show, i got my welding gear from the 1960's and got the parts i think i need to do the electric repairs. ps, i got my pliers to crimp on terminal ends on 50mm2 cable... If someone needs to use it , Give a shout.
  4. You keep the old parts on a heap? if possible please do so, it might be usefull to bodge other items with. my money got spend after tonights engine failure, i need to fix my door with a cut out of a good ish door frame your old bits might be my rescue. cheers, Arjan
  5. no 109 ex raf on the show  on the M62 the engine seized just two day's before we leave. i do have a ex mil 88s3 with most of the dash out, full roll cage fitted and black outside with blue inside... i think i get something peace time this year, a quick fix but i don't want to miss out on the show! cheers, Arjan after a engine that threw a conrod, fitted a other engine.. next two oil lines blew, now that is f*cked as another oil leak bled the sump dry... i feel defeated ... gutted. the wife feels heart broken and frustrated, the only adapted car she could drive and she hates being dependent on others to get about. 2,25 petrol parts welcome..
  6. When i cannot sleep as pain levels are high, in the morning while medication kicks in, During my kleeneze work when i need a break, during tinkering breaks... all related to pain and my body failing me.
  7. lets make this thread the 2014 one. we have a 101fc coming in from Holland, a 109 ex raf from lincolnshire, we had a cat that fell through our soft top, a blue one is being shipped to the show. we plan to tape it tomorrow and have a tarp under the top to keep stuff dry. in 2012 we had a 101fc blowing a con rod on the way over, this year the 109 engine disintegrated, a 1966 engine was bought and dropped in, both oil cooler lines blew leaks, water pump leaked, main block got 3 core plugs done... still leaks water but the mot is sorted. we shall perform a head gasket replacement on the showground.... who sees us work, have a chat and just enjoy. Arjan
  8. Thats why the dutch used oil thermostates, might go with those. Just circulation till it is needed, the 88lw uses a 200tdi radiator from the time a 2.5td was fitted. right now, big yellow taxi time as the fan belt snapped after alternator failure ... The rear ally body broke off and there is a coolant leak
  9. The pumps need a boost, i bought the set complete set, i replaced the sump, pump and the front cross member was ready for a cooler. We use the trucks with a lot of stationairy running, so it is for cooling the temp of the engine. The 88s3 is going to used as work vehicle, loads of short runs like 60 yards to deliver and retrieve catalogs the 88LW is going to be a tow truck, 2,25 petrol driven. The regular oil pump or the higher pressure ones can be identified by the bolt, if the bolt is flat at the sides, like a regular bolt head is, it is low pressure, if there is a pressed in bit on all six corners of the bolt it is the high pressure pump. the low pressure pump is not suited for the oil cooler. as for the 5 main bearing, it was sceduled for maintenance and before the date of removal the engine threw a conrod, thats why i put in the 3 bearing as war and peace is round the corner
  10. I will see if i can get 3 sets shipped Craddocks won't get a order from me ( long story) i will go ask dunsfold first as they go to the war and peace show cheers and thanks Arjan
  11. After the retro fit unit on the 5 bearing 2.25 petrol we went to a 3 bearing 2.25 from 1966 that had a oil cooler, i had a issue with two pin prick oil leaks that sprayed the engine bay in oil after fixing the pipe we had a test drive and the other line broke ... As a roadside repair i removed the bit that the line bolts too, now i want to know, where can i get replacement original pipes or where to have them made? cheers Arjan ( who is happy it happened now instead of half way to Kent)
  12. Always lovely to see the old details would the smaller numbers be more rare? i know that multiple foundries were used.
  13. As i wonder, did the museum torney had them with the large or small numbers in the cast?
  14. just a question, are the tin gaskets in place too? i just read the start of the thread, nice friends you had... reminds me of mine!
  15. That is looking really good, i hope with minor repair it is to it's former glory
  16. Cast iron can be welded with bronze, it might help
  17. if the material is for sale per meter, making it yourself would be my option. the rest is just a quick fix.
  18. who can help me out? i obtained a much needed 7.50x16 wheel, folding bench and v8 downpipes. who can take them from Southampton to the show? compensation can be made in beer if needed. cheers, Arjan
  19. Child blood sacrifice? Seen that on mine, best help with an engine. Even after cutting her hand. next time she visits i will teach her vehicle electrics.
