  1. As for the duffle bag, it was lobbed in my 109 one night filled with ex DDR stuff. I kept it as handy bag
  2. Anyone made pictures of the land-rover's in the arena? just wondering cheers, Arjan
  3. i had a girlfriend who put me at a choice. sell your land-rovers and get a lexus, or we split up. i can still remember her look on her face, when i put my duffle bag in the 1962 109 and went to belgium. the car i regret scrapping was my alfa romeo 33sw type 2. engine failure, loads of work and i had enough of it. regretted it after leaving it at the scrappy. my wife to be regretted selling her 109 raf landy. after a few years she bought it back, and i work on it ever since :-) cheers, Arjan
  4. indeed it is getting expensive. exept for a deact hand grenade i did not find anything in my budget. last year i got a mosin nagant without the stock. i am saving up to have my dutch .38 smith and wesson deact, in a uk accepted way (did talk about it at the show and 1000 pounds comes first) same with my dutch rifle deacts, bought for a nice price, needs work to get in this country. i saw air soft as a decent replacement till i got told about the vcra bit, so i got for this year, a bright orange glock 17 blank fire. had fun in the back of the ex raf landy :-) take things easy, prices drop when no one buy from them ( there is always the one who can...) ps, is there a legal vcra approved c96 broom handle, or P08 blank fire? Arjan
  5. can a friend of Olaf put him on his entry form as support vehicle? Olaf puts his tent in the military vehicle section, his car stays in the designated area. all happy as we need more peace on this section of forum. we were in kitchener field, a 101fc drove in from holland, a 109s3 struggled in from lincolnshire. great fun, but if we did not split the bill between 5 to 6 people, we cant afford it, cheers, Arjan
  6. a 2,25 diesel engine that was worn down from 20k miles from new. soldiers booted with cold engines till the day came it smoked heavy and is in need of new rings or rebore. thats how the cookie crumbles.
  7. got home at 07.00 am, offloaded the wrecker and went to bed. fuel system, ignition set up and a hand full of other stuff needs sorting but its hobby :-) next is my birthday and part shopping. cheers, arjan
  8. I am not happy from the show. We broke down on the M25 in the heavy traffic from the fire. currently stuck on a safe area at a travelodge waiting for a big yellow taxi to take us to Lincolnshire. 2 coils burned out, new points wasted . This 109 ex raf don't like me I guess. I might get a point free set up with new coil to go with. It's going to be late and long for a change over on the trip where I can get food. two dogs, disabled wife and disabled me.
  9. @marmite, i am not bashing, it's mr cadmans crew that need to step in. For the show, I'll be back next time see if they learned from the mistakes. It's trail and error with experiments. As for nlba, time for civil discussions? MIGHT like to get along with most and with talk we can get a solution for next year cheers. Arjan from dust bowl field
  10. With the nlba you can expect it, so.. Planning counter measures should be easy. If they keep being the way they are, ban the group from the show, elvis evening is ok, large party not ok at silly am. for the rest, this site starts to grow on me. Next year the fields are better, I hope the soft bits are more solid and wheelchair proof loads of fun and a spitfire ale on a hot day served by that nice redhead girl is a treat Cheers, .303 (imps member)
  11. The reason for the site as it is, they thought about the chance of rain. Ploughing, tilling and seeding it would made a right mess like last year. We are camping for 7 days in Kitchener field, dusty but manageable. the flash bang incident is news to me.. I hope the man don't have life changing injuries. Arjan
  12. a visit to the falkland islands... by crab air? i have some friends living in port stanley, telling me to move over for the gun laws. if i only could get the missus to support it. nice meeting you here, i will fly the flag proudly at the war and peace (it was a gift afterall ) cheers, arjan
  13. my fiance had a marriage before, the crash left her disabled and widowed. her partners vehicles got sold off (a 101fc gs and a 109 ex raf with sankey) she still got her 101fc ambulance and at the 2007 war and peace she was offered her old 109 back. bought with the memories and it took me years to construct, play with metal to get it working again and mot'd when she will die, i get to chose one vehicle to keep, the other goes to her son. leaves me to think, when i die... i will never have kids to give tools and cars to. this topic makes things churn in my head a bit bad. i hope i can foster the right girl, teach her to weld, maintain guns etc.... who knows in the future.:undecided:
  14. welcome, me my dad and fiance have plenty of land rovers, always nice to talk :-) cheers, Arjan
  15. it's a shame. it was on my to do list after saving up for it. what is going to happen with the dukw's? and wikth the job loss that goes with it??
  16. my dad, fiance and me got a 101fc each. they are fun, the ambulances are more comfy to drive. and yes, i am a 101club member, i even started dating her after a clubstand meeting at p'boro 2005 get a 101fc, enjoy it
  17. i am looking in to it, shame there isn't something like a collectors license to have blank fire guns and the deacts registered on number. there is hope for me, thank you all.
  18. but a starter pistol can be fun. little loophole? no vcr to apply to i get something like that, the rest deacts. but if i have a old style blankfire gun, found in the loft thats top venting i can keep it? cheers, Arjan
  19. i got shooting rights, so i might end up with a shotgun and my .22 as hunting guns. i just love the sten gun, and from before the vcr act i bought my girlfriend a airsoft machine gun full metal exterior and metal gears/internals in black. if it was a gas gun it would be ok, as sten gun etc, and as far as i understand it, i can put that under a bus drivers nose too if i so intended. i just dont understand the technical side of some laws, my english is just not up to date enough. if it can be held on a license, i might get it sorted when i apply for the hunting rifles. thanks. Arjan
  20. how does the vcr act work? If i am a member of lets say IMPS, can i buy a life like blank fire pistol? and how different is it to lets say a blank fire machine pistol? i have seen something on millweb i want for display purpose, but in a safe arena also fire. thanks, Arjan
  21. if a revolver gets de ac in germany, that dealer can sent it to birmingham where i can pick it up after inspection? nice, and cheaper then the 2000pounds plus i got quoted. :nut: i also have welded up rifles in holland that were legal there, but no stamps in them to prove it. i do have the police check them out in a case, and got them back as legal deacts.
  22. if needed i will give you my iphone number, text me the pictures and i will put them up here. just what friends do i guess :-)
  23. i have two accounts on facebook. one professional, one to stay in touch with friends and the offshore radio people. guns dont do well on facebook, nor my thoughts on a few things in life. so.. i stay on here with a photobucket account to go next to it, sharing pictures.
  24. dutch deact rules makes the cost 500 euro to deact, it gets 1/3 of the gun milled away and the remains welded on a wall mounted plate. don't think so. can any one suggest a german gunsmith? and help me with writing german? cheers, arjan
  25. just to complete the picture here, i got a estimate price off 2000 pounds for import, transport and deact work ... bit steep for a250 resale value item. it#s either dutch deact work with fully welded up gun, or destroy it.
