  1. i will ask if he can produce the ones i need, including the 1962 military plate on the bulkhead. there might be a market for them, and if needed a option to bulk buy as a group. and yes i have seen the defender being destroyed, did less to me then seeing the mk1 militant die.
  2. in holland the only id it needs is the bit on the chassis, load capacity and axle loads are on the registration papers. the 109 has it id tag missing, same as the military plate with the repairs on it. not an issue legally, i like to get it complete again. the wife's 109 has the wrong tag on the seatbox, it gives issues with the mot, i like to have one made to match chassis number, v5c number and id tag under the bonnet. the civilian series 2 88 has one missing in the uk, i am looking to buy the vehicle but again, i like to have it complete. my dutch lightweight (not much original) has got all tags same as the 101's and my 2a diesel has got all tags and is being restored on a new chassis.
  3. just a question, the id tag in the cab of a land rover, how important are they? and can one be re made when one gets lost? it is about a dutch registered 109 and a uk 88. thanks, Arjan
  4. also, is it dutch or english? the dutch had oil coolers with thermostat and different wire looms.
  5. if needed and if what Katie did helps, i might dress up for the calender. 12 men dressed as pin up's... i say the sales are going to hit 10
  6. http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/military-sites/77982-foxtrot-submarine-medway.html that sub? register at 28DL and drop him a message i would say.
  7. dress up ? as far a i go is a dutch military overall to get muddy in, complete with dutch flag on the shoulder as i can wear that :-) no marking otherwise for personal reasons
  8. most kindle owners have 3 legged tables, live in a area where mammoths are under control and like to have 800 books, manuals etc to read while no trees got used. downside is: who owns the digital books you buy? resale option? why that huge amount for a digital book? and why vat on a digital book while there ain't vat on paper books?
  9. buy? no... i have em on my kindle for free. i might buy if prices go down and publishers get cut out of the chain.
  10. still i hope for a few bits i can afford, or even a complete other pto winch. if many parts for loydcarriers and thornycroft ww1 trucks are out there, my parts are in a shed waiting to be found.
  11. the air in my tyres is older then 70 years. it was hard to find, but it is NOS ... it states on the can not a lot of options i have, perhaps a bodge with a sliding piece from a propshaft will work. as for reap pto, i don't dare to say what i plan. i found a bearing block from a lorry on the road, i plan to have that spinning on tick over with a shaft.
  12. i know it, same as re manufacturing of winch parts for a aeroparts capstan winch, i got the winch and the flange that goes on the engine pulley, there was a offer to have it re manufactured for 1500 pounds, just the drive shaft bits. i can buy 4 complete winches for that money. so, original is nice, but not above what i can spend.
  13. with road tax rules changes they threaten in the netherlands, a lot of diesel land rovers are converted or scrapped. they plan, 40 years is tax exempt, 25 to 40 years on petrol there is a rule that bans em off the roads in winter time, diesel and lpg that currently are tax eccept will pay full amount if plans are pushed through. also the zones in cities makes it near impossible to keep them... glad i moved away from it all.
  14. i am sorry for your loss, i hope you find peace with it soon. as for names on vehicles, make it your personal touch, hand painted, with the good memories in your head whilst painting. all has purpose in life, even departures of loved ones. if you need a rant, or a talk.. i am just a PM away. Arjan
  15. i hoped it would charge 3 vehicle batteries at the same time, would have done nice at shows in a sankey working for a living. any tips on a 10kva diesel generator that was used by the british forces?
  16. if it runs, what would the price be? also, how many batteries can be charged at once? might be something to use at shows for charging the freezer battery.
  17. I can get a letter from the dutch police to state they are dutch standard deacts, if my friend can mill the barrel out and weld a rod in place it should do. Bolt is fused to the rifle so its permanent deact that way. I might want to know what is needed for a certivicate to own a .38 as blank fire gun.
  18. "'has been rendered incapable of discharging any shot, bullet or other weapon and has consequently ceased to be a firearm within the meaning of the Act" That is a interesting bit of text. if a rifle is welded shut (holes in the barrel that are welded too) and welded trigger and bolt so nothing moves,it should be deacts in the letter of the law,but without any proofmarks or letter to go with. I am looking forward to the results.
  19. don't forget to take pictures. it is nice to see what we talk about. my LW is in need of extensive rebuild with a modern diesel. i might get the rear end good enough and fit a recovery crane.. cheers, Arjan
  20. indeed, engine and gearboxes as one, rad and rad panel as 2nd item. it's only two hoses that needs disassembling. check that all wires are disconnected.
  21. in my kleeneze catalog travels i meet wonderful people, i met a man who served just after the war at RAF Manby, he had the diagrams of a lancaster bomber in his possession, and wonderful classified stories to tell if i kept it secret. i also met a old man who was a child age 14 during the London blitz, i pulled up in a ex raf Land Rover and started to talk, after half an hour he dipped in the sensitive parts of friends he lost , he cried on my shoulder for half an hour like a lost child. i left after an hour that was needed to calm him, and left a card with a phone number so he can reach me. he calls he his dutch friend, i am proud to help out.
  22. with disability, military landies , civvy landies a disabled wife i have plenty to do. big guns ain't on my wish list, but a AEC Militant is. i like big stuff i can drive, enjoy and help friends with. my biggest issue is language barrier and getting sorted after my emigration in to the uk. fuel prices do affect what i can do, but if i am honest.... it won't stop me completely. i save up for war and peace, parts and pieces and try to have time for work on vehicles. cheers, Arjan
  23. at risk of divorce, what do they cost?
  24. If you wave a orange blank fire gun in public you are not innocent. they should be shot as if it's a class 1 firearm.
