  1. there are also a few 101fc ambulances with VC names.
  2. the dutch had a 109 with pedestal mount. http://www.landroverserie3.nl/index_bestanden/Page320.htm and in the yellow tag left under , it states for sale 35-vs-rv. if you want it, i am willing to translate, no share of sale comes my way (just friends trying to help.) cheers, Arjan
  3. Simon, your vehicle, your tribute. i think it's ace what you want to do, with or without a history sign. all my vehicles have names, named after pink floyd songs or after 4 breakdowns in 6 months (bittercup) if you can find more history on your dad, you can decide later if you want to change things round a bit. as for rivitcounters, the one parked next to it has nicer rivits to look at cheers, Arjan
  4. the dutch lightweight landrover had a uzi weapon clamp on the bulkhead behind the seats. most got used as 24v ffr.
  5. any issues, just shout. pictures welcome :-)
  6. Welcome from a fellow land rover enthusiast not far from raf theddlethorpe. Cheers, Arjan
  7. As quickly as possilbe can take a while. It is a skill thing, and is there a date set that it should be complete and running? with my wifes 109 i set the date for june 2009, it was on the road july 2012, so it's not bad How many specivic tools were used? I have seen the big press for the wheels, just lovely to see the old school solutions.
  8. Simply amazing, and i am surpriced that there are still spares out there. Keep up the good work
  9. Welkom Marten, if you can, please post pictures. i always like to see things so i can learn. Cheers from lincolnshire, A fellow dutchman
  10. google maps appears to have a image after the show was gone. i just love to look at old air foto's and google earth :-)
  11. i have found rot at the rear crossmember, 30 cm of chassis remade to original spec ans new rear crossmember. found rot on the front end behind the bumper, welded two plates in, half of the rear spring outrigger, welded a new homemade replacement part in. that was the wife's 109, my 88lw got rot at the rear, awaiting new crossmember, expecting loads more rot, but repairing what is left is my way to do it. my civilian 109, rotted bulkhead, chassis gone beyond repair... new chassis, bulkhead bits made to my spec as aftermarket stuff without ribs (footwells) aint doing it. my tip, Co2 welding kit, 2mm metal, patience, sanding disk for 12,5cm grinder, patience and cutting disks. coffee, and beer/pub to walk in to at nights it ain't working. take lot of pictures and if needed a jig. Arjan
  12. a lifejacket can be put on in a minute, put under a seat like in a aircraft. the get up and do mentality i have with my disability too. gives to think, to prove a point, take the ducks and swim from calais to dover? i would be up for it.
  13. i like it, electric propelled would do for the quiet camping at the war and peace...
  14. disaster can strike with everything. yes, i would take my unofficially adopted daughters on such a tour. they can swim, know of the dangers of hypothermia etc. i did hear one say about my 88lw, yep.. roll the dice and live a bit. she is 12 and adventurous. :-D
  15. Looking good. i will enjoy seeing the restoration progress pictures :-) cheers, Arjan
  16. i can pm you the link of our kleeneze shop, all profits go to the restoration of a 101fc. Arjan.
  17. i must polish my russian then. what would be a price guide for these? cheers Arjan
  18. Its been used by regiments outside of the SS too. Ill dig further thanks.
  19. where can i find a few SS stamped casings of K98 or other calibers for sale in the uk? thanks, Arjan (hints and tips also welcome via pm)
  20. nice picture. trams, hassle then, hassle now :-) but still right of way.
  21. It's busyness ... Nobody wants it, it gets scrapped. I cut up plenty of range rovers, land rovers including military ones. A shame? With some it was, others it was time. That Millie could have been worth saving , or at least dismantled a bit nicer to safe parts. How many get destroyed without any notice on this forum??
  22. you might want to join up with this lot :-) http://www.101club.org/ it gives access to fun, tech via forum and parts. cheers, Arjan (my dad has a 101fc, i got a 101fc and my (in 15 days) wife has a 101fc.) shall i measure and count splines to see if a series3 wheel fits so you can steer if needed?
  23. fresh air , good food and ale... sleep at 11pm, up when the dog barks. clean the minefield and untangle the chains so the rest wakes up
  24. a lot was specific for the 101. axles wider and heavy , salisbury front too. steering column just for the 101. the steering wheel a lot flatter then the regular series ones. as a guess, you are in need of one? or planning to put another steering wheel in for more leg space? i can take pictures of the ex ifor 101 in the drive :-)
  25. Secure transport is costing a lot, milling , welding , running the shop on large scale gives large overhead. so, if I could afford the prices I would buy what I like to keep them going. A vickers, I love to own one for display in my office but then again, a Bren... Mk1 Inglish like I had and the mk3 sten I had before the Dutch government took them away, would be nice.
