  1. A very sensible policy. Just checked mine on street view. Empty driveway and not even an iol patch, so well over 2 years old. Oh the cameras were mounted on the roofs of cars about 10 feet off the ground Mike
  2. That will keep you quiet for a while. Had a look to see if I could find any clues to its "acting" role. A few yo watch here. http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=Humber&model=FV+1611&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=Humber&model=FV+1609&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on Probably some missing as no mention of Minder. But you can chose from Are You Being Served, Magnum, Miami Vice, Beyonce Video, A few to watch when you are not working on it. Mike
  3. Suspect it was Wayne moving his. Mike
  4. Mi car needs an annual service so it gets done at the same time as the MOT. The recommended service intervals are 12K or 12 months so that is what it gets. Even if it only did 2.5K one year. It even checks its own lights so tells you when a bulb has gone. Carry a selection of spares in the glove box. Have got a set for the Land Rover as well. After all 24v bulbs are a bit harder to get. Sadly there are people who cannot even put water in a washer bottle. or check tyre pressures, let alone change a bulb. Maybe they should change the driving test to include practical as well as theory. Mind you car manufacturers do not make changing of bulbs easy either, some you need a spare half hour and numerous toold to do. But I suppose that is progress for you. Mike
  5. Interesting! Do they taste good? What next - crisp flavour wine? If she sees this there could be real trouble http://2chickswithchocolate.com/TWC.php OOPS! should I have posted that Mike

  8. I decided to do some work on parts for the Landy Saturday morning, in the garage, but it was a bit cold and went in after about 3 hours when I could not hold anything properly. Think this explains things -17.8 over night here. Its official http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2099233/UK-weather-forecast-After-temperatures-plunged-MINUS-18C--ready-half-term-thaw.html#ixzz1m4OeiuiP Mike
  9. Rosie I packed some snow into a box for you last night and left in the conservatory so I could post today. Laithewaites confirmed your address, seems even our local branch has it.:-D However I think somebody must have stolen it overnight as there is only a soggy box and a puddle leading to the door. Mike
  10. About 2 inches over night. Do you want me to post some down to you? Have you thought about buying it some wellies? http://nickin00.tumblr.com/post/679605968/a-pig-in-wellies-only-made-more-awesome-by-the I know wrong type of pig, but it is amall. Mike PS would have added the picture but for some reason pkoto bit not working on this PC (IE9)
  11. That is a shame. Thanks for the info. Mike PS: This is what you want to see. Brought to you courtesy of Photoshop Elements
  12. Speaking of flying Lancasters, what ever happened to the Strathallan collections flying one? Mike
  13. Sat there watched it and enjoyed it. I think it was right and appropriate that it was done now. The fact that they included veterems who flew with bomber command annd the inclusion of the "enemy" veteran and survivor also added something. Oh and not forgetting the lady rivetter who built the Lancaster's added an extra dimension. To me they made the program stand out from many other similar documentaries, along with the McGregor's trying to experience it to the best that modern day will allow. Mike
  14. There was one over here in the 80's, no idea what happened to it though. Are we looking for real MV's or is just the wording US Army OK? Mike
  15. Started showing about 5ish here in bucks yesterday. Stopped by this morning and about 4 inches. Thought about going for a drive but somebody parked my car infront of the Land Rover. Mike
  16. To right. Real Land Rovers have spare wheels on the bonnet. Girls bikes have shopping baskets on the front:D Mike
  17. Ah but what makes you think you survived? We could all be in some sort of strange after life. Mike
  18. There is also a shopping basket on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Military-Defender-110-Wolf-WMIK--Bonnet-Camo-Net-Stowage-Basket-/180808294351?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a19039fcf Mike
  19. My understanding on the retro fitting of seat belts is that how many you fiy is entirely up to you. In fact my brother fitted a single one in the rear of there '65 Mustang for my nephew and it has passed about 10 MOT's like that. They do however need to be "approved" and fitted in accordance with requirements. You need things like spreader plates and reinforcement as fitting a seatbelt mounting to thin metal or canvas would not be any good in an accident. In fact could be worse. It also depends on the vehicle, I do not believe they have ever come up with an effective belt for side facing bench seats. When I was a lad my parents had a Trasit minibus (or should I say MPV?) He fitted seatbelts to 3 of the seats in the back, forward facing These were like a 4 point harness ant bolted down through the floor. Suppose they were racing harnesses for kids. Mike
  20. Something along these lines. Shopping basket obscures a bit. Owner (FV1609) might be able to give you some better/more detailled pics. Mike
  21. So are you going to increase your investment by chopping 17.1 inches out of it and welding it back into a 90? Mike
  22. I always used to use Gunk did a very good job especially in conjunction with a hot water pressure washer. This was also good for removing paint on alloy motorbike wheels. Never tried caustic soda on anything other than decoking 2 stroke exhausts, mind you also used an oxyacetylene welding torch for that as well. I do know caustic soda and aluminium alloy parts do not mix very well. So I would be careful about my advice. I don't believe in Elves so the safety bit don't stand much chance either:-D Mike
  23. Depends what you mean by small children. [h=3]If your vehicle has no seat belts[/h] You can't carry any children under three years old in vehicles without seatbelts, like classic cars. If you're travelling with children over three years old, they must only sit in the back seats. Lifted from Government website http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Roadsafetyadvice/DG_4022064 Mike
  24. Kind of agree with you there. Where do they get the names. I thought a Twitter was some sort of athletics person. Or have I completely misunderstood Mike
  25. I believe the owner is some sort of Orang-u-tang. At least that is the only thing that has arms long enough to reach the steering wheel. It probably is an aircon pump and its removal was forgotten when it was transplanted from the donor vehicle. A bit like they appear to have forgotton the following Gear stick (or is that the thing with the 8 ball between the head and exhaust?) Accelerator Brakes Mike PS: Think I will buy it for A&E (well that where you would end up if you drove it)
