  1. Gut wrenchingly annoying for that to happen
  2. Here we go some pictures of a narrow tracked canvas it very rough and fit for a spare only. I probably have a spare canvas but I am using it to cover something up and I don't know its condition. I was standing in the rhubarb for this shot above. This is the difference between a wide tracked canvas and a narrow track you can fold up the bit near the wheels so that it doesn't get covered on mud. I will sort out the drawing today / tomorrow the main measurements of the canvas is 69 by 84 inches. Somewhere on the internet you can download the manual for the narrow tracked trailer with a bit of look someone will find the link for you. Found a link http://www.muddyoval.com/articles/manuals/sankey.pdf
  3. Withams at one tender sale last year had a stillage of narrow tracked canvas I know I bid on it and didn't win it which was probably for the best
  4. Thanks for posting the pictures they look to be to far gone to be saved?
  5. Someone on ebay is selling a wide track trailer canvas for £74.99. I'll measure my narrow tracked canvas tomorrow and let you know the dimensions then you can make you're own mind up if its good or bad deal. A narrow tracked canvas is different to a wide tracked canvas.
  6. Don't think so I thought maybe a track tool its a bit of a beast as tools go
  7. Somewhere in the post someone mentions that it was bought from the museum the Ferret was supposed to be going as well.
  8. Didn't know that learn something everyday... damn and blast I was going to buy one as well!
  9. Military vehicles and fuel economy don't really go together (my experience) you could possibly buy an ex military quad bike that might be economical and cost less and be as useful.
  10. I would have thought that a normal car licence would be sufficient I presume it weighs less than 3500 kg? It might be an advantage to have some kind of lessons on how the controls work.
  11. Extremely offended lol. As a vehicle they seem o.k. to me they do a job maybe not the job the army wanted them for but as a run around and straight load carrier they seem fit for purpose. I have had mine fully loaded with flags the old fashioned thick concrete ones that the council wont relay (H&S) it carried those without any trouble. Plus the missus can drive the RB she can't drive the Ferret legs to short and I'm not putting blocks of wood on the peddles.
  12. You shouldn't have written that Rick will be over digging the car park up as well as the common... Sorry let me rewrite that he will be digging test pits..:-D
  13. When it stops raining I'll measure it up for you. The missus wouldn't like it in the house. The canvas that I have is correct for the narrow track version just can't find a picture at the moment. If you fancy making it up rip stop canvas is available here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ex-Army-Canvas-Tarpaulin-Sheet-Cover-30-x-12-/230622821496?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_HikingCamping_Tents_JN&hash=item35b230fc78#ht_1480wt_905
  14. I have an extremely rough example that could be used as a pattern I could measure it up for you.
  15. My RB44 does not have air brake connections but that doesn't mean that the army didn't modify some of them.
  16. Depends on you're driving licence See this thread http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?24499-RB44-with-Radio-body-would-it-make-a-good-camper
  17. Didn't the German army employ the follow on vehicle to the VW Camper Van? Still military nato green and small enough to drive on the new licence. Admittedly not an RB44 which is a great vehicle to drive but it would save you some pennies. The flip side to that is that you could drive something bigger at a later date if you took you the driving test. Decisions decisions up to you.
  18. This is a charity not government policy its what they would like to happen not what will happen. I agree with some of the statement above but the greater majority I do not agree with. More of the nanny state do gooders wet blankets health and safety fiends who r destroying the UK. Rant over:mad::argh:

    U47

I thought you might like a few pictures of U47 that I have been gifted by a relative. The Sky remote is to give you some idea of the size of this model The two pictures above show the motors, servo and battery compartment it looks to be ready for the water just requiring batteries and a remote control handset. Last pic U47 torpedoed HMS Royal Oak at her moorings in Scapa Flow Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_submarine_U-47_(1938)
  20. That bad... you could really do with clubbing together to have a few sets made otherwise its tooling up for just one set expensive
  21. Wikipedia has some good pictures of Shackeltons good enough to be used as wallpaper on you're computer http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/00/SAAF-Avro_Shackleton-003.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f2/SAAF-Avro_Shackleton-001.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/ff/Avro_Shackleton_Mk.3_SAAF.jpg Article itself http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Shackelton Cracking thread keep up the good work
