  1. my first thought was clutch failure, you can see the driver faffing about and looking down inside the drivers compartment for inspiration. I know this because I have done the same myself.
  2. lucky that tree stopped him where it did, a lesson for us all in how fast things can go from good to deadly when mucking about in tanks
  3. hey mick on part 3 there's a centaur in the clip at 2.05 just in front of the grizzly
  4. so you are the guy responsible for the best tank video's around, what you do that nobody else does is give the locations and a bit of background which must take a lot of research and for that I thank you. keep it up for all our benefit and yes I have been scheming about how to recover some of them
  5. ok you got me on that one ! there is no need for the Churchill's heavy armour when fighting the japs and the shermans maintenance requirements are a little less than the churchills ! which in the jungle is an important logistical consideration. another factor to consider is the churchill is probably too manly a tank for the aussies, so best for them to stick to the little tanks like Shermans and such and leave the big stuff to the real men :coffee:
  6. thanks or posting the link, it seems the Sherman fitted with track grousers did very well in the conditions and was better suited than the Churchill, which was not what I was expecting considering the Churchill's legendary cross country ability
  7. there are 3 conq arv's on the iow and a gun tank missing it's barrel that i think came off raf tain. there are also plenty of suspension bogies in the hedge round the back. there were maybe 10 gun tanks in a scrap yard in aachen earlier this year but they would have been cut up by now.
  8. fairly sure I've posted some of these tanks before but hey that's no reason not to do it again. these are the feldom wrecks.
  9. Harland and wolfe built the first Churchill but gave the contract to Vauxhall to finish. I think the irish army had 4 churchills after the war and I had heard they were re engined to meteor's
  10. lance send them over and me and ben will look after them for you free of charge :cool2:
  11. I was thinking the dingo would look nice in my garage
  12. if you need anything just give me a nod
  13. damn that's original, well done mate
  14. steveo is steve osfield and is still on facebook, you might be able to get hold of him there
  15. that's not a valentine wreck, it's an A9/a10 but the suspension is the same
  16. I reckon it's centurion but could be comet. nice find. ps. it's the front idler, not a road wheel
  17. laughable pyro display but it makes for good telly for the masses and it's all about ratings so just take the show as a bit of fun and now and again it might have something interesting and relevant for the serious enthusiast.
  18. the mk1* has a brass plate on the right hand front fender and the mk2 has a plate on the bulkhead behind the driver both of which you don't have, however the hull number might be on the top angle iron on the commander's side it will read something like CB 874 (my number) this will give you an idea of the contract number and whether it is a mk1 or 2
  19. it has a Canadian steering box so built in Canada but I can't tellif it's a mk1 or 2 but I would guess at a mk1*. as to value I would have thought £4000 was fair, I say that as the armour is easy to accurately reproduce and the drive train (hardest bit) looks very complete. hope this helps you buy and restore it. rick
  20. she looks really nice lance, all you need now is a Cromwell to follow on behind it (now that would be nice to see)
  21. hi lance I met a few re enactors down there last weekend so I will ask around for you, maybe one of them can help out. rick
