  1. thanks for putting it up. the sighting telescope will actually fit any 2pdr with besa armed tank or armoured car
  2. like maurice said the original paint is always still there under all the post war layers. my mk1 canadian carrier was dark olive drab underneath the top coats, having said that when we stripped the paint on laurens charioteer it revealed just under coat so i assume it had been blasted by the israeli's when it was captured by them. all that history gone !
  3. thanks for the reply stu, i had hoped the lake would have been full of valentines but that's probably not the case here's a couple of pics from the vickers tanks book showing the swimming cent
  4. welcome stu i have been waiting for someone like you to come along ! john pearson has told me of fritton lake and some of the relics in it's depths, i am interested in valentines but i seem to recall john mentioned some aircraft that collided over the lake and were then recovered. which is great but are there any tanks :cool2:
  5. clive i don't know if webbing was used on all carrier boxes but it is present on most. they were also quite keen on stencilling, both on the hull and on the box. the inside of the box also had the content stencilled on the underside of the lid.
  6. hi lee i got the dimensions for chris but forgot to send them, i'll do it now. rick
  7. well done. that man deserves a yellow handbag
  8. bob put some pics up, it's a cracking truck and deserves to be shown in all it's glory
  9. thanks sleeper i just hope someone buys them before they get scrapped
  10. looks very nice but why do we need it when we already have warrior, it seems to perform the same role. is it more airportable?
  11. thanks maurice. i had thought the G spelt grizzly. you learn something new every day
  12. sleeper anything happening with these two cents, do you know if anyone has been looking to buy them or what sort of money the scrapman is wanting to get out of them. they are too good to get torched !
  13. the big G on the front also gives it away i'm going back next week if anyone needs any info/numbers off it
  14. brilliant post cheers here's a pic of the sherman gate guardian at the light dragoons in catterick
  15. ivo i see 3 comets in your yard, are you going to restore them all
  16. those cromwell hubs would look nice in my spares racking
  17. sorry jason but i can't see them making two protypes of the same air drop platform
  18. i want andy to continue this thread until it's conclusion, either the tanks are there or they're not and tanks are fairly substantial lumps so should be easy to verify. let's see what comes of it. as an aside i was talking to another forum member about this thread and we got onto the subject of buried tanks and have resurrected an old rumour of a cromwell buried nose first in an old clay pit in rickmansworth. so it looks like andy has helped find 1 tank, 325 to go
  19. thank you for such a comprehensive explanation
  20. thanks, that would explain the heavy construction
